lot of message board puffery around this. I can see both sides. from a purely business stand point, its BYU and Boise, BUT you cant ignore the history of assholery Boise brings plus the middle finger they gave the AAC when they cut and ran back west. BYU also has a not great reputation for playing well with others. this is a bottom line business and if ESPN says move, they'll both move and we'll take them. Aresco's job then will be to smooth out the wrinkles, which wont be easy.

Take Air Force if they are interested and stop at 12. Like Navy they would probably only be interested in FB only. If they want a western travel partner let them pick who they want out of the MWC or BYU. Of course that is 13 for FB so let them have input on number 14 too if that school comes from the MWC for another western partner. CSU would want all sports so a good all sports combination would be CSU and Boise State with AF for all sports if they all played in the western wing. 07-coffee3

West FB: Houston, SMU, AF, Navy, Boise, CSU, Tulsa
West BB / Olympic - Houston, SMU, AF, Wichita St., Boise, CSU, Tulsa

East All Sports - Temple, ECU, UCF, USF, Cinn, Memphis, Tulane

BYU probably says no so I left them out of this scenario. 07-coffee3

True. Those jerks really showed their true colors when they tried to overplay their hand with puffery and reneged. I wouldn’t care if we took the SDSU and Fresno and left them for dead in a dwindling league with zero money.

We could add AFA, BYU and Boise for football-only while adding VCU, Dayton and Saint Louis for Olympics; this would be the ideal best-case scenario if I were to guess.

If you can bring in BSU, this will be a death blow to the MW. Right now, AAC will probably go to a NY6 bowl, 6 of 7 years. With BSU, you easily go to NY6 bowl 9 of 10 times.
BYU as indy, they will never be ranked high enough to be eligible to a bid for a NY6 bowl.

Or Boise and AFA can put their olympics somewhere else.

I say to tell BYU to put on their white shirts and ties and go knocking on the doors of other conferences.

Should've gotten off their high horse when they could.

No mention of UAB? New downtown football stadium to be complete next year, great football coach, average attendance in football near 29,000, Andy Kennedy doing great recruiting as new basketball coach, historically played in same conference as most of the AAC teams, historically a great basketball team (made Sweet 16 in third year of existence and Elite 8 during fourth year), academically sound with highly ranked medical school, etc.

I think the ACC should consider them as a 16th team if Notre Dame ever decided to become a full member.

Didn't they cancel football once, like a few years ago?

Yes, before the community and local businesses donated $40M for new facilities and a new $174M stadium construction began.

Still makes me nervous with them. Look what they're competing with in that state. Nothing against UAB but ehhhhh, I don't know.

I hear you but Memphis competes with Tennessee, Tulsa competes with Oklahoma / Oklahoma State, etc...

While Georgia State is in the college football crazed south, even they compete with Georgia / Georgia Tech / and a NFL team.
