Okay, one more try....The Million Dollar Man is the AAC, Virgil is Mike Aresco, and the poor kid trying to dribble the ball for some extra cash and for our entertainment is BYU/Boise St.

BTW I thing most people here don't really understand the way BYU operates, They are part of the LDS church, they get support wherever the are in the US.

Noticed that most people here hate Liberty, my question is why, Liberty is supported by an Evangelical Church and BYU is supported by the LDS Church, they can both survive as independents as a result, conference membership is only important to access playoffs and prestigious Bowl games.

Pretty sure their athletic departments have all the money tyhey need to operate.

Having said that neither will turn down $30+ million TV Contract and neither will run through shark infested waters for a $7 million dollar TV deal.

They’re politically toxic and they make awful decisions constantly. They’re president just had to take a leave of absence for pic/video that went viral. Being Evangelical isn’t special. BYU/Mormons are a tight knit group and die hards. There are at least 3 BYU campuses in 3 different states. ND/ Catholics were also a tight knit group. For generations, ND sold itself as a representative for those elite and blue collar Catholics and it worked. Both Mormons and Catholics are historically repressed religious minorities. This is something that helped unite the respective communities and build support amongst their own. Times have changed but the bond is the same.

The short answer is, being evangelical isn’t special and most evangelicals already have their teams based on their geography (where they live).

Yeah, I agree. They are a little flaky. They just want us when it’s convenient it seems.

Got it, absolutely agree on what was for ND (Not what it ones was but still strong)... BYU (LDS) is one the most tight knit communities I've ever experienced, worked for a company based in Orem, Utah until 1994... Recently noticed that they have reemerged in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

They're certainly embracing the idea that increased testing just leads to increased positive results. They haven't tested in weeks and, shockingly, they haven't had anybody who's been positive!

Liberty is an online diploma mill. ACC teams that play Liberty this season are concerned that Liberty isn’t testing or reporting Covid cases correctly. Basically, if there are no symptoms, then no need to test is their thought.....it won’t end well.

Not a fan of BYU, but BYU is a good school.

Apparently, this covid virus is the catalyst that has made them come around. 2/3s (66.4%) of that board would now want to join the AAC if a couple western schools would come along for the ride.

https://www.cougarboard.com/board/messag...d=24230060

I have followed that board & even posted there from time to time since ECU started scheduling them back in 2015. This marks a stark 360 u-turn in their consensus. Usually, their inflated self esteem & grandiosity impede their ability to exercise reason but it's so obvious at this point that they cannot even deny the lure that the AAC offers them right now. To be fair, 1/3 of them are still blinded by self-aggrandizement but overall this represents a marked change in perception and thought.

But the big question is why would the AAC want an institution that wasn't there for us during the struggle but now wants to reap in the AAC's successes?
Wait, your link is to a message board? Not a news story showing their Adminstration is talking about it?[Image: 2d80fe6644d7da8aa989e7946764c098.gif]

Another C Austin Cox tweet for the "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on you, fool me three times shame on you" crowd. Remarkable.

So far this is a C Austin Cox exclusive. Which is saying something considering The Dude of West Virginia and that guy who channeled "the big Ten Man" are still out there.

Byu is not considering a move, than the AAC should not throw them a one year life line.

They are not worth the head ache and wish the AAC didn’t play them. Let them play their independent schedule without us.

The AAC will be better served by assisting Army and AF if they need scheduling help.

I don't mind playing a home and home, but no thanks on adding BYU or expanding west. Let them have their indy so they can hook up with the P5 later (yeah right, "I'll call you tomorrow"). Barring a P5/NCAA split, when the CFP expands to 8 we will have a team playing most years.

Schools are trying to figure out how to navigate this pandemic right now. I promise you there is likely nobody with a realignment war room right now outside of message boarders and reporters looking for clicks.

We should throw life lines to Northern Illinois and George State based on fan participation on this board.

I can't wait until the Church of Scientology establishes a so-called university and fields a football team. Then we can all debate whether we want to associate with them.

Sun Belt is still playing and NIU has no fan support. Last thing we need is another team with empty stadiums on tv and that last pre Covid for them.

RE: BYU finally coming around on the AAC (Link) but do we really even want them now?
Looks like I’m in the minority here. I think Boise and BYU make a lot of sense. Boise is the bell cow of the MWC TV deal. Adding them to the AAC lifts all ships. I looked at the TV numbers last season and it is clear that Boise is the most exciting team out there that we could possibly attract. I believe BYU would also help our media deals going forward as people tune in to watch BYU no matter who they play. So a BYU versus Tulsa game would be a strong draw for the conference and add many more points throughout the schedule that Aresco can point to and show that there is interest in our brand of football which drives the revenues.

Outside of those two, I am not sure who adds more value from the MWC. I saw Colorado State register a few times with good ratings but they don’t have a strong history of success and seem to water the AAC down a little. That’s why I think Air Force makes sense over CSU. However, Air Force went 11-2 last season and I think I only saw one game where a small amount of people watched them play. That’s not good for the AAC.

So maybe some of you are right and SDSU would be the better pic despite distance? There’s not clear cut solution to the last team to round out at 14 it seems.
