I know Bronco doesn’t want to play his old school but does Virginia have any other decent options?

This feels like a Liberty game, they're less than 90 minutes apart on U.S. 29 and Liberty would play even if the stadium was in the middle of a black plague hotspot.

I don’t think scheduling Liberty would be well received in Charlottesville; beyond the recent issues with Mr. Falwell, there has been some public criticism of their COVID response and some high profile athletes have transferred out, article is here. Plus, Hugh Freeze, for all his many, many, many faults, is a good coach and I for one hope his health allows him to avoid coaching from a hospital bed this year.

Is VMI out?

A number of these FCS schools are trying to play their non-conference money games while putting off their conference season to the spring.

Can you get from Liberty to UVA in an hour? Google says 67 miles.

Marshall needs some games. I'd love to add UVA and BYU.

Many of the Big South and SoCon schools appear to be trying to figure out whether to play OOC games. Some additional schools who are currently undecided are likely to choose to play a couple of guaranty games before shutting down til spring.

I'm guessing that the B12 and ACC conference schools still shopping to fill open dates are looking to do so on the cheap, possibly offering FCS level guaranty money even to G5 schools.
