It would suck so bad to see Ezikpe and Curry not stick with the Monarchs. I love those guys. I could see X exploring options I guess. He's been here a long time, but Id like to keep him too. Keeping the first two should be a priority for the staff. Thats they type of thing that can push the Monarchs over the top and back into an at-large / top 40 type team in 2021.

An extra year of Curry is pretty exciting. He could be the kind of guy who puts you over the top with 3 years in the system.

The Lion's Den: Basketball could be fairly exciting what with everyone getting an extra year of eligibility.

Also The Lion's Den: Football is going to be a shitshow now that everyone is getting an extra year of eligibility.

Heres why. Basketball is returning a bunch of great players from a team already expected to be good, and better than a bunch of our competition. Adding another year of experience to those good players should make them even better.

Football is returning a bunch of players from a one win team (but is bringing in some really good looking recruits), and the team wasn't expected to be that great this season to begin with. Meanwhile our competition, who is better than us at the moment is returning all of their good players again. In football we were hoping the competition would lose good players, while we were bringing in higher caliber guys.

The same reason its good for our basketball team, is the same reason its good for our competition's football teams. If your team is good, its good. If your team is young, its good. If your team is experienced, but not that talented, its bad.

Ummm basketball is playing, football is sitting out for an entire year while everyone else is playing and getting an extra season of game experience. That is the difference. Who said players receiving an extra year of eligibility would cause the football team to be worse?

Every team in basketball and football worries about graduate transfers, but after this year there will be an overabundance of them. It will likely change the dynamics at every school more than usual and may level the field some.

Yea those P5s will have seniors getting another year as well. There will be some opportunities for non-P5 transfers but will likely be fewer of them.

This must be what it's like to be a football fan at Duke, except Duke BB's high-bar isn't an inevitable first-round loss.
