Maybe when they restart next year they can change their name to the Big14?

I wonder if ESPN gave them permission to cancel, or if there will be a huge lawsuit.

The Big 10, or any conference for that matter, is not getting paid if they are not producing content. Why would they? ESPN has been struggling for years so they are not shelling out a hundred million+ to conference not producing revenue.

which is probably why this is occurring:

Of course, but them not playing also means a loss to ESPN. You'd have to assume ESPN was making more money off of them than they were paying out. Waiting for the lawsuit...

Memphis should be part of this, if it happens.

I gotcha, suing for lost "profit" not suing so they do not have to pay the Big 10. I see what you were saying now.

Let's see what happens. Could this deal be a positive for our Tigers, or will the season be cancelled? At this point I would not bet money either way.

College football alignment is about to change as we know it forever.

This will be the destruction of the power 5 alignment.

Many schools will eventually break away from the corrupt NCAA and form their own pay for play alignment division.

Out of the Georgia lawsuit in the early 1980s that is what the P5 is now in football.

Basketball has not broken away, the NCAA owns the tournament.

I would bet the house on the season eventually getting cancelled even if it starts.

If this is the big conference shake up then feel good that the U of Memphis is in the best shape ever. But... if we don't get in this time we never will.

Which brings up the question I've been asking for month. Why has my tv package cost not decreased since ESPN is the largest cost of the package, and they have not been paying out their contracts for live events?

Maybe if people called in by the millions and demanded ESPN be pulled from their package, that would happen. It's my understanding that although there is nothing to watch, you're still getting ESPN.
