After the $EC schedules were released, Mizzou would love that.

Is there really anything legally that would stop CUSA, SunBelt, and the American conferences from going it alone this fall? Could make a lot of money and make a name from themselves. There would, of course, be pressure from controlling entiries as many G5 schools are part of a larger university system that has a P5 team & if G5 teams were to play and had a relatively safe season the P5 would look pretty bad (which are 2 reasons it probably won't happen).

I think it would seal the deal—which is probably inevitable anyway—of a coming permanent division between P5 and G5 conferences. But I wish they would do it, because I believe in the end they would prove to be the wise ones, instead of the ones who caved to peer pressure.

Many colleges are going to allow students back on campus and in classes, that’s ok for the players to attend but they can’t play ball?
On top of that, in many college towns, students have been out marching every day of the summer while the athletes worked out isolated from everyone else. Looks like extracurricular activities are only appropriate for certain students.

That's probably accurate in addition to presidents and ADs being afraid of being sued if things go badly. Its not about the players safety and not about COVID-19 as much as they want you to think...

It's precisely about the players safety......from their perspectives. If the presidents can't guarantee they can keep players safe then what do they do?

Now many P5 players are saying #WeWantToPlay on twitter. The guy who’s most likely the #1 pick in the draft is leading the charge.

Legally? Lawsuits, particularly if they push on and a player(s) become infected and have long term health damage. University presidents are very sensitive to liability suits as well as damage to the reputation of their schools.
The presidents will make this call.
