I don’t know how to post the link but it’s on CBSSports.com

Moving the season is the right thing to do. Otherwise this is looking more and more like the NBA and China --- all about money.

This has gotten so far outta hand! 20 year old football players are at such a greater risk simply playing the game of football. If you can imagine it today it's coming. Data, logic, and reasoning need not apply

They are at less risk playing football than going out into the world

I guess we've all shown our priorities.

Yep, one guy, the orange gibbon who chose to throw out the pandemic playbook, get rid of the ready team and politicize precaution while promoting ridiculous 'cures'. Slate's article perfectly sums up what the intelligent of us already knew: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020...ml?via=rss

Take your idiot politics to the place it belongs, not here

Honestly if they don't play college ball it doesn't affect the players too greatly...May put their lives on hold a year (Also gives them an extra free year of education).

If high school football doesn't happen there are going to be a ton of kids who get screwed out of an opportunity for a scholarship though. Those are the kids who are going to be affected the most if a season is cancelled.

How will these 20 yr old be at such greater risk playing football. Do you really think 20 yr olds are not otherwise going to socialize closely?

I'm not sure, but I read his post to mean that 20-yr old players have a much greater risk with serious issues like CTE, knees, backs, legs, etc., than they do from COVID. And I agree with this. MUCH higher probability and more serious health issues for young athletes.

I also agree with your point. Does anyone really think that if we don't play football, that 20-year olds are going to sit home all the time and not come in close contact with groups of people? Heck, the controlled environments of college athletics, the testing, the access to medical, the regiment of practice/workouts, and the curfews might actually HELP flatten the curve with this age group.

But there are definitely optics and liability issues at play here. Stay tuned.

AAC,
Play, if we're the only conference playing
Think of the exposure we'll get
Players want to play, dancers want to dance and singers want to sing.

I would love us to play

Obviously there are obstacles to this but one that came up recently was the player demands which has not gone away unless I am missing something. Among other things they asked that the waivers they signed be forgone. Not going to get in the other items they asked for

It's a virus they have happened before, we will survive
However, all I hear now is the fear of litigation, I think litigation over a pandemic should be off the table
Next it'll be hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and maybe even a lightning strike or two.

Absolutely.

100 years ago Americans actually had sense. Now look at this country.

This is all we had to do but noooo....

There is tons of litigation over natural disasters..

Worked on a major case after Katrina that basically revolved around whether certain damages were caused by "floods" and thus covered by flood insurance or caused by winds.. knew a guy who worked on a case around business closing due to repairs from "seismic" shifts... there are literally whole industries built around this stuff. Nothing new at all.

Yeah, but they may not sue the U if they pull a hamstring in a barroom brawl

So, logically, your argument is since some college students are irresponsible college administrators should be also?

It's a virus there is no cure for, nor much to treat it. It is a 100-year virus that has engulfed the entire world in less than a year, and killed and sickened millions. It is particularly vicious and fast-moving, attacking the whole body in bizarre ways and killing in a few days. We are still trying to figure out what the longterm consequences of it will be and who is most vulnerable.

And you are wrong -- not all of us will survive; many will die, maybe even some of us, God forbid. My BF is now dead of it, one of the biggest Tiger fans around. When it touches you personally, maybe you won't be so cavalier. It also killed my 24 year old cousin.
