Mid American Conference cancels season
https://www.freep.com/story/sports/colle...326139001/

Ohio, Miami-O and WMU out as opponents, Akron out as a possible opponent.

FWIW, that leaves Army at 5 scheduled opponents. Look for Army at ND 9/19

The ACC could move BC-Pitt up to 9/12, and schedule BC-Army 9/26 and Pitt-Army on 10/10

Alternatively, Youngstown St. may be available to play Pitt on 9/12, as their scheduled opponent is Dusquesne of the NEC, which has postponed its season. Cincinnati is also now available on 9/12 and 9/19.

BC could take week 1 off and host Army on 9/26, or could host UMass on 9/12 if UMass can get Troy to switch their date to 9/19, which they both have open

RE: Mid American Conference cancels season
There might be a solution though.
For Boston College: UMass just lost a MAC opponent.
For Clemson: Coastal Carolina just lost one too.
For Pitt: Temple has a pair of openings.
For Notre Dame: BYU just lost another game (and already had several openings)

and that's the tip of the iceberg... IF those schools play in the Fall, that is.

Looks like ND'S full membership won't even get to happen. By next Fall we should be back to enough normal for us to return to independence.

You think Syracuse will field a team this year? Looks like your players are attempting a bit of a coup. You realize that if you allow that, Duke will follow.

I doubt this fall season will be pushed to spring. I assume by next season fall 2021 we will have enough normalcy to play a independent schedule.

I actually think college football is better positioned to hold a season than Major League Baseball. They should be able to exercise more control over the players living situations. If a school has a Florida Marlins type issue, just shut them down. Others can continue with an extra bye or replacement game.

Getting more and more unlikely by the day that we have a single football game in the fall.

RE: Mid American Conference cancels season
We are seeing a weird sort of brinksmanship being played out by the P5 leaders. None of them want to be the first to cancel the season, but neither will any of them play if the other four cancel (and maybe not even if one or two cancel). They all recognize the risk, but nobody wants to be "that guy" who brings the whole thing down. And so we get...

Nobody wants to be the first one to commit suicide.

At some point we as a society are going to have to come to grips with a couple facts.

#1 Covid-19 is here to stay. We've known about Corona viruses for decades and we've never developed a successful vaccine.

#2 It's not the instant death that the media has been hyping it as.

#3 The continued shutdown of our regular lives because of this extremely overhyped virus is going to be far more harmful than the virus itself.
