So it's the conferences that are on the hook. CUSA and Sunbelt have not canceled their seasons yet; if they would continue to claim acceptable health and safety risks, what then? That's why I'd like to see what's in the legal contracts.

Most contracts have "Act of God" provisions, so I doubt anyone is on any hook.

But eh, maybe we'll see.

In the end, pretty much all these games will be re-scheduled in the future. The G5 and FCS schools aren't going to sue and cut off future revenues.

I'm proud to be a Bowling Green fan today. This was the right decision. Perhaps the rest of FBS will soon follow our lead.

That's may be easier said than done. E.g., I was reading an article in a Kansas City paper talking about Missouri's canceled OOC games, and they do not have an open spot on their schedule until 2029.

Of course not every school is like that, but some others probably are.

God Bless you and BG, but do you really think this was done for any reason other than money?

There are some games scheduled in 2034 and 2035. Just plug it in.
Usually that last game is open beyond a few years.

NCAA might add a 13th game/Week 0 next year so schools can recoup a portion of the lost revenue.

Do you think the SEC continues to plan on playing football in a pandemic for any reason other than money?

In the case of the MAC: I doubt that much money is at stake. If football is not played, MAC schools will lose ESPN revenue. I doubt the expense saved by not playing fall sports greatly offsets that. Grants in aid will remain in place. Coaches will still get paid. The big cost savings is probably on travel, and the MAC is mostly a bus league.

Nope. The SEC hopes to make its usual gobs of money. The MAC was motivated to avoid losing even more money.

No the MAC is losing more money by suspending football and not getting the ESPN and NCAA payments while still paying for the coaching staff.

The cost of busing a team around the MAC is not very much, especially when you are BG which is in the geographic middle of the MAC.

You're making the assumption that COVID will be over by next year. That's a large assumption.

In March, we were told that everything would open up again in 4 weeks.
