I hope he takes the time to recover. I hope this will also have some changes in other parts of leadership. We need to get back into focusing on the Gospel, academia, research and even expand the campus more so we are not known for just online learning(which also needs a lot of updates and research development).

Jr being gone will help a lot. Liberty can focus on athletics, academics, and faith without getting involved in politics. Not necessarily in that order :-)

So what you're saying is that I won't get another JFJR and family Christmas card in the mail this year?

I think we can all take happiness in that.

Hopefully this is brings an opportunity for the better. Jerry could have been a lot worse. We tend to focus on the bad but not the good. He definitely deserves criticism (and I want him removed for multiple reasons) but it is no guarantee a replacement is an improvement.

Money wise he was great. Everything else, terrible.

I want to thank Jr. for the great leadership he provided Liberty during his tenure and the incredible growth the university experienced. I pray for him and his family and what the future has in store for them. He will have a lasting legacy.

Now... I pray the university decision makers are deeply rooted in the will of God determining a new President. We must make the first prioriity a leader who wholeheartedly embraces the mission of Training Champions for Christ. We can not afford to grow lax in our steadfast faith in Christ, our commitment to biblical authority, and call to be the light to the world and hands of Jesus to others.

Give me a guy that is smart business wise and does nothing political and that’s a win. He doesn’t have to be the faith leader of the school he just needs to hire people that fulfill that role. Or people can you know go to church since LU isn’t one.

Is Jerry gone for good or will he be back? Nothing says "fired" but obviously these situations tend to go from temporary to permanent.

Rumor going around is that he's going to be terminated but going about it in a graceful way.

I wonder if they will bring back jr's brother whos actually a minister as a figurehead president and hire a CEO to run the business side.

Rumor I heard, he volunteered for addiction rehab. If all goes well he could return to his job in 6 months. Can happen to anyone, his grandfather fought it. His very good friend Turner Gill returned to be part of the LU staff last week.

Of course that's only one side of it. There is also the Falwell's side and the truth may be somewhere in the middle.

True but they do have tapes. Im not sure there is a middle ground that Falwell survives this.
