Just got released by the Seahawks. Wish somebody would give the kid a shot, he can perform given the opportunity. Just like with Jordan Lynch, got moved to RB/FB in training camp and basically ruined his shot. Going to the right team and system out of the draft is so important. Larry English having time learn OLB is another example. Could have had a totally different career if drafted to a 4-3 team and stayed at DE

Loved him here at NIU, but if I'm being frank he never seemed to have that NFL speed in my eyes and he was undersized

Yes to undersized. I think it’s fairly simple. He got hurt early in camp with the Steelers and lost a lot of ground and couldn’t make it up. Once you get branded as a practice squad player it’s difficult to get a real chance.

He’s been back and forth between squads and with teams cutting numbers going to camp the fringe is not a good place to be.

He just got married, which ties up the final open storyline from the MAC Championship (his proposal).

RE: Sutton Smith
I was hoping the switch to LB, especially MLB, would give him a shot. I do recall that insider guy on this boars, the player’s dad who gave away way too much team info, saying Sutton couldn’t pick up NIUs assignments at LB. That’s why they switched him to DE. Anyway, sometimes we forget what it takes mentally or even emotionally to play pro ball.

Speed he has. Size he does not. I hope he tries xfl if that starts again or cfl. Can still play If he chooses.
