With the MAC moving fall sports to the spring at earliest, the @ Northern Illinois game has been removed.

One thought is perhaps BYU adds a game against first year FCS independent Dixie State. They are a local team who may be still interested in a game. MWC could need games with huge questions around some teams like Colorado State. AAC seems prepared to play as well and may have more openings.

Does BYU want to come to South Bend on 9/19?

Western Michigan is out since the MAC just cancelled its season.

Look for a game with Army. They're down to 5 games at the moment.

Also, with the Big Sky postponing, a bunch of schools in the MWC now have open dates.

It would be a no brainer yes in most seasons--but ND has been indefinitely postponing its return trip to BYU after the Cougars played at ND in 2012 and 2013 in a 2-for-1 deal. BYU even agreed to a mutual cancellation of the 2nd 2-for-1 series at no penalty due to the ACC scheduling agreement at ND's request. So any future game will probably entail at least a solid commitment to that return game BYU is owed and waited 7 years for already.

BYU loses 3 more games in the MWC shutdown.

So unless the AAC throws BYU a bone you guys are pretty much done for the fall season as well.

While holding all the cards I think you stand firm on having them join as #12 to get saved.

There is the theory that we could add games against the other independents--but I don't think we are done with cancellations at this point. And I still believe North Alabama is probably gone as well. I don't think anyone is going to try and hold another school hostage for games in a covid-19 season. That would chafe more people than it would help. And you don't make long term decisions when in a short-term crisis. That is a formula for disaster for one, the other, or both.

Worst case scenario at this point is delaying until spring with the FCS leagues and the MWC.

Just give Frosty a call. Nebraska is going to have a lot of openings on its schedule. 07-coffee3

If I'm BYU I am getting on the phone with the Sun Belt and CUSA before being blackmailed by the AAC. The Indy teams are available and there are more than enough SBC and CUSA teams that would be willing to play ball with BYU for one season with no strings attached.

At the rate we are going, BYU will crowned national champs after going 8-2 in 10 games against Liberty.

Put BYU, Boise, Air Force and Army in the AAC this year.

Added strength of schedule in a year where there might not be 2 of the P5, maybe opening a path to the CFB, plus more flexibility if 1 of the 11 current teams has an outbreak that requires cancellations or rescheduling.

I'm sure Air Force wouldn't just be able to go to the AAC for this year. Media rights, exit fees, etc will prevent such a thing happening.

The AAC is already the strongest G5 conference by a lot, closer to the P5 than the rest of the G5 actually. Hence the P6 campaign. Saving 4 programs for one year does nothing for the conferences SOS, it hinders us from furthering distancing ourselves from the G4 and achieving P6. Now if one of these programs is interested in our #12 spot that's a different conversation.

And frankly BYU is the only one that would be able to. Army has the NY travel restriction rules to deal with, Boise & AF were just part of a vote to not play (does anyone know if it was unanimous?).

RE: BYU 2020 schedule - games trickling out, being captured here
Air Force's AD made a statement (heard it on the radio in the car so don't have a reference) to the effect that while the MWC games are delayed to spring and it was the right move, they are going to keep working towards playing Army and Navy as athletics are an important part of the fitness and leadership experience for all 3 institutions.

I'm also hearing rumblings about a potential BYU vs Notre Dame matchup in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2021, so we'll see if anything comes of that.

RE: BYU 2020 schedule - games trickling out, being captured here
The military Academy ADs will be over rule from above. They are not going have the Cadets risk it this fall. They could still play in the spring. Plus, the three Acadamies will have to listened to the state governors if they say no sporting events as well. I see them trending to shutting down.

Houston, Dallas, Miami Florida, Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta, El Paso, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Saint Louis, Kansas City, Washington DC, Baltimore, Orlando, Tampa and other very large cities in the south are the hot spots. Even Phoenix/Tempe/Tuscan having 105% beds occupied by Covid-19 patients. There are low to high 90%s in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and other places. I do think if the hospitals are still up there around 100% capacities in these areas? I would think ACC, some SEC, Some SBC, some Big 12 and some ACC scholls will not play this fall. Remember, LSU is in a blue state and New Orleans/Baton Rogue area have been hit hard.
