Sanity prevails!
Cobb schools announce plan to return to in-person classes

Note: this story slanted far-left by extremely biased newspaper; nevertheless, the headline shows sanity of regular common-sense Americans who want their choice to be heard prevails over left-wing insanity. These children will get a chance that Democrat leaders hatefully deny to other needy kids.

Cobb and Gwinnett were originally going to give parents an option. Then they apparently got pushback from teachers and went all online. Parents were furious and now they are going back to something similar to the original plan.

I think schools could use common sense and return with an A/B schedule. A students would attend in person class MWF 1st and 3rd week of each month, TTH 2nd and 4th. B students MWF 2nd and 4th week and TTH 1st and 3rd. No school would have in person capacity in excess of 50%. All classes equipped with cameras so on off days students would still get instruction using Zoom or other media option. This would allow both social distancing and in person instruction. Why aren't school looking at options like this?

Well, in this area you have a lot of kids without adequate access for the online stuff. No high speed internet or simply no internet or no computer.

Indeed: Cobb parents turn out to demand in-person classes for students

The Silent Majority protests against the Democratic-run Elitists who would take away their rights and those of their children. Democrats were against choice. #henceDJT

Parents protesting the ignorant decision of Cobb Schools to prevent their children from having face-to-face schooling in their county. Parents demand choice for their kids.

Say wut? Cobb and Gwinnett are both top 10 out of 159 counties in Georgia in almost every financial category you can name.

Even Fulton and Dekalb are Top 10 in per capita income. There are some poor areas in the latter two, but still nothing compared to most of the rest of the state.

very similar to what happened to one of our municipal districts here. Collierville announced no in person classes for elementary, and parents started a pretty big petition movement and the school officials caved this week and are allowing an in person option.

RE: Sanity prevails!
We have elected to homeschool our 2nd grader this year. Not out of fear of the virus, but lack of patience to deal with the inevitable dumbassery coming. Two main points

1) Anyone with or who has had small children knows they get a damn fever about every 4-6 weeks just from normal childhood viruses on top of the normal snotty, sneezing, and coughing they seem to pass around all fall and winter. According to local policy anyone with a fever will not be allowed to return to school until they have proof negative of covid or quarantine for 14 days.

2) Going by their metrics which seem to very arbitrary I fully expect between covid and flu season the next 8 months are going to be a roller coaster of closings and reopenings

We decided to sit this experiment out. We got a homeschool curriculum to make sure he stays minimum where he needs to be if not excel past where he needs to be.

And there's a good bit of poverty in those counties too. Probably 3rd and 4th in the state after Fulton and Dekalb in shear numbers.
