Events lose hype and spectacle without the crowds. You want to feel like you’re there, but you don’t want to feel like you’re there alone.

I don't know. I've watched baseball games when there were few there. I've watched golf for years and never notice the crowd (until someone hits an errant shot). In fact, golf viewing is up big time in the past couple of months.
I'm watching baseball, golf, fights, and a little NASCAR. But I'm sure not into NBA right now. I wonder if it's more the seasonality than the crowds.

Crowds make a big diff. huge. When they have those conference tournaments that draw no crowds...it's boring. The players aren't into it as much either. T

Players are performers. Performers need live audiences.

And a lot of it has to do with the athletes kneeling and their political stances. People are tired of the disrespect they show. Believe it or not.
