I never understood how they'd be willing to attend half the schools in the south. I'd go to Liberty before Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU or any of these other southern schools that were anti black. It literally turns my stomach to see black kids wear an Ole Miss or an Alabama jersey.
Boy oh boy, you should look up the history of Liberty and why it was created in the first place

I have my issues with Liberty, but the OP article is just a once-good commentary website getting in a pot shot.
This was more to do with a prof making "whipping" jokes at the player in a class.

What they need is a woke white savior to tell them all to transfer from Alabama or Ole Miss to an HBCU.

Okay. Jerry Fallwell Sr. founded Liberty as a whites-only private school in direct opposition to the federal government's decision to desegregate schools of which Fallwell was an outspoken opponent. The school dropped its "whites-only" policy two years later when it was ruled in court that segregation institutions could not retain their tax-exempt status.
AlwaysSunny's assertion that black athletes should go to Liberty over "anti-black" southern schools is laughable considering Liberty was founded for the sole reason of being anti-black.

Uh, Georgia Southern was also founded as a "whites only" school. Might want to re-think that hate-fest you have with Liberty.

If you can't understand the difference between a school being founded during a time when the only people getting a formal education were the children of wealthy white land owners and a school being founded to create a place where white students didn't have to share a classroom with black students, there's no hope for you.
Also, Georgia Southern was the first school in the state to desegregate thanks to university president Marvin Pittman and did so several years before the federal mandate.

Damn history getting in the way of throwing stones:
Georgia Southern finally integrated its student body in 1965,[12] eleven years after the United States Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v. Board of Education (1954). College President Marvin Pittman had been fired in 1941 by Georgia governor Eugene Talmadge for supporting racial integration; he was eventually rehired.
Everyone was ignorant back then, no excuses, just reality.

The campus was desegregated even before the first official black student arrived. Georgia Southern and Savannah State had been hosting joint programs since WWII. One of the charges brought up against Dr. Pittman during the board hearing where he was ultimately removed was that blacks and whites were seen eating together on campus. Dr. Pittman was reinstated after students and faculty protested. How's that for history getting in the way of throwing stones?

Strange. Both UGA and Georgia Tech had black students in 1961.

And Georgia Southern was having desegregated seminars with Savannah State, then Georgia Teachers College and Georgia State College respectively, as early as 1941.
Stay broke.
Regardless, there's still a difference between being founded as an A&M school decades before the Civil Rights Act and Brown v Board and being founded as a "whites-only" school in direct response to those things. Your what-about-isms speak volumes though.

You're mistaking Liberty Christian Academy with Liberty University. Both were founded by the late Jerry Falwell who was in fact outspoken against the Civil Rights movement and desegregation and founded the private school as "whites only". The college wasn't formed until the 70's though.

Lynchburg Baptist College founded in 1971, now Liberty University, was an expansion of Lynchburg Christian Academy founded in 1967, now Liberty Christian Academy. The two are separate entities today with the same origin.

I never said it was a news source. It is full of opinion and analysis. Nothing wrong with that. My problem is people taking opinion as fact which happens a lot on some message boards.

As much as I don't care for Alabama, Alabama is definitely less racist than Ole Miss, if they are racist at all. I'm sure that there is some racism at Alabama, but from what I've seen lately, there is racism all over the nation, even in Big Ten country where racism is not supposed to exist. You guys may not know this, but it was non other than Bear Bryant who began integration at 'Bama. He had all white 'Bama play integrated USC (Southern Cal), and USC easily crushed 'Bama. That ended all opposition to integration on 'Bama's football team, and the rest is history.

Anytime Liberty gets mentioned on this board, the thread devolves into pages upon pages of chaos. Why even bother trying to post about them anymore? That is unless you're trying to stir the pot.

Part of it is jealousy that they have money and the most of our schools dont. That's what it boils down to a lot of times.

simple..they could stand to go play at the state flagship schools in the south because they saw it as the best way to showcase their talents at the top level of college football and saw the benefit in how playing at ole miss or bama for example is better for their future than say playing at Paul Quinn college.
