FCS schools are cancelling their seasons, which means so much for the buy home game. Almost certainly the American will also go internal. So what's the point of holding out?

Playing 8 conference games is sufficient, and avoids shutting down the year. I suspect almost all the non-con games will get cancelled.

Hopefully this is the wave of the future - conference games only with rivalry based nonconference games only as well. No pointless matchups between LSU and Wisconsin for instance.

UTEP and UTSA being in the UT system, they are following the same guidelines that UT is doing in Austin.

I'm fairly certain that UTEP is not going to be antagonistic to any P5 team, especially the Texas flagship when it comes to scheduling issues brought about by covid issues. UTEP has a number of future fb games scheduled at Texas and will not want to jeopardize that relationship. UTEP has Texas Tech at home to start the season and if it's necessary I'd bet that UTEP will be happy to exchange that for a future date. There will be no court issues regarding those 2 games.

UTEP was already on the schedule for week 3 in Austin. UTSA wasn't. I mean they could still go with South Florida as scheduled in week 1, but maybe they move that game up to week 0? I figured that Tampa being a hotspot, they just cancel it or reschedule it sometime in the future.

Laughable attempt to salvage some P5 buy-games, or else preserve lawsuit possibilities (if C-USA also cancelled all OOC games, their teams couldn't claim in court that the other side cancelled on them).

They will end up having to schedule each other as "OOC" games as a result.

I don’t think so. C-USA fans are applauding this as a decision the conference got right. This spread out conference does not need more games between East and West. Rather, this gives everyone flexibility to do what is best for their situation.

Western Kentucky fans are hoping Louisville picks them out of conference. Charlotte fans are hoping for an arrangement with ECU and Appalachian State where all get games against each other as a result. Rice wants to protect the Bayou Bucket game with Houston, and the home game against Army. North Texas sees this as a way to still play SMU and Houston. Southern Miss fans are speculating about Troy and Arkansas State, and Georgia State fans are challenging Florida Atlantic.

This might be the opportunity to test some of those local match-ups envisioned for the Olympic sports within AAC, CUSA and Sunbelt - if we play football this fall.

Nah. I think you're going to end up seeing more SBC-CUSA games and neither conference will need to play non-conference games with conference mates.

Probably so but even if they played a couple of conference mates as ooc games, I don't see what's laughable about it. The ACC did the same within the last few years and this is going to be a truly strange year anyway. Hopefully things go better than expected and fb is plated and athletes and f2f ans stay healthy.

So Liberty's gonna be paying a lot of CUSA teams to come to Lynchburg.

It does look like an attempt to preserve demands to collect buy game payouts for games and/or cancellation penalties for games where the CUSA team would have had a home game.

Wrong... since Kentucky and the SEC wimped out Louisville is expected to play Western Kentucky from CUSA

Well hooray for Louisville and Western Kentucky.

RE: C-USA will keep 8 game conference schedule
Looks like the AAC is going to do something similar. I suspect Houstons schedule is basically set--11 games. The regular 8 game conference schedule and the Cougars still have scheduled OOC games vs 2 in state teams (N Texas, Rice) and independent BYU. I doubt UH will spend a lot of time replacing the Washington road game unless they can land a P5 home and home. Maybe they will look for a FCS home buy game---but my guess is the school is good with 11 games in 2020 as buy games don’t make a ton of sense this season.

I hope that is the case. Could possibly create cooperation that later leads to more SB - CUSA synergies and alliances. They both could benefit from that.
