RE: 2020 JMU Basketball Season ticket deadline August 1
It appears that JMU will not honor season basketball tickets for this year. Same type of options as Football season tix with the difference being JMU plans to sell single game tix to basketball this year in line with whatever the COVID capacity restrictions are at the time. Seems like a good plan that can enable flexibility to increase legal capacity later in the season if a vaccine comes out by then.

Not sure how single game pricing will look with demand extremely low. Only 800 season tickets were purchased. Probably a one price ticket will make sense if you are going to be told where to sit to maintain social distancing. Maybe a two price ticket...lower deck and upper deck.

Wondered about the pricing and tiers for 2020. I'm not sure they can offer club like amenities in a pandemic. Assuming not, my guess would be you have a sideline price ticket and a general price ticket (baselines).

No idea how you decide how many students get in and how you control their seating.

well, with the governers mandate on indoor seating limits, by the time you factor in the families of players , coaches, pep band and some students- you are not going to have a lot of public tickets available.
until Northam loosens his grip, i don't see JMU selling basketball tickets to the public.

I know from previous conversations that JMU is in constand contact with state government and as of a few weeks ago were still hopeful that we will have some fans in attendance.

More than 1000 total? Think that's been the cap, even for fbs football thus far. The state is reconsidering that position?

Until this Virus is behind us it will be reconsidering position. We're heading into a time of uncertainty. It can, and will go up or down.

Was trying to clarify if they are hopeful for more than 1000 at games. “Some fans in attendance” could be 1000 or less.

Certainly there are discussions going on not just at JMU, but at UVA/Tech etc. Based on everything going on with virus my guess as we will be lucky to have a 1000.

Yep - if you look at the trend the last two weeks it's certainly looks to be the case.

I go back to if they come up with a potential vaccine solution by the end of the year it could slow things in the short term as far as increasing fans. Supposing they come up with a vaccine that could be effectively delivered to the masses by mid to late 2021 - I could see the thought "Let's move forward with the season, but let's not be too aggressive with the amount of fans in attendance for this one off year."

RE: 2020 JMU Basketball Season ticket deadline August 1
If basketball started tomorrow, I think it's fair to assume 1000 would be the limit JMU could allow. Some questions to wrestle with:
-looks like 1000 "Patrons" is the language for Virginia rules about indoor entertainment gatherings... so teams, staff, RMC, etc may not be included in that count.
-Are students "patrons"?
-Any special tickets out there that take away from the 1000? Parents, facility/capital campaign donors,
-Are there 1000 people willing to go to a basketball game right now? What is the demand like? Do we need a listening tour or consultant 04-cheers?
-After the parents, specials, and student tickets are given out, how many does that leave for purchase? Guessing there will be no general admission tickets left; only Duke Club members will be able to get access based on priority level.

4 weeks until the season is supposed to tip off... lots could change and there is lots to figure out.
