I don't see the point in it either, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

We're not the target market for twitter comments, and we are informed enough to know that he couldn't do this even if he wanted to, we are aware enough to know that the lame duck period is pretty long as it is... and we're talking two established candidates who already have or know whom they want for the major positions... and we are mistrusting enough of the media to look at what he actually says versus what is reported that he says.

This one isn't important enough for me to even look at, but what I mean is the difference between him saying in response to concerns about getting a safe, fair election 'maybe we (meaning as a nation, collectively) should look at postponing it' for a few weeks so that we can address those concerns.... and him saying 'i have the emergency authority to cancel the election, I'm staying'.

People like us are more likely to be upset at the media, who is supposed to be neutral and report 'news' for knowingly misrepresenting him to CREATE news/sell newspapers rather than reporting it

Just a thought

I think extending the election date would be a gift to the Dems, after all, every dead vote must be counted!

But he anticipates their response and yanks that string, knowing what is coming. Then he grins - "do I know them or what?"

Trump knows that he doesn't have the power to do this but put it out there to get a reaction. With the left writing columns lately about what if DT loses and refuses to leave, he knows that this will blow up and show once again how looney they are. He gets the left time and time again to show how unhinged from reality they are. This is just another example of him throwing chum in the water, knowing that they can't resist.

so you’re saying Trump is really so stupid as to think there are only Republicans and Democrats and nothing in between? I really doubt Indy voters are amused by Trump right now and that’s who decides elections.

So, you think Indy voters are amused at what the dems and their minions (antifa, blm and others) have done over the past two months in city after city? Will it bring in independent voters to vote for more of that? If you do, you should go work for them, as you are as deranged as they are.

Democrat ideas, such as they are, do not move the needle much with most people unless the potential voter is already a radical. This is why dems are desperate and willing to go to any length to get votes. Their ideas don't work, hurt the country and rarely succeed in getting passed.

They have offered us nothing much other than socialism with a hard dose of authoritarianism. The radicals control that party and Biden has to pander to them. Most Americans that are undecided at this point will likely pass on this. They've gotten a glimpse of what dem rule would look like - release violent criminals while arresting ordinary citizens for petty, dumb reasons, getting Soros' D.A.s and A.G.s who won't prosecute even serious crimes, etc. Not condemning rioters but encouraging them. Attacking police and trying to get them abolished through defunding is not something that average people are likely to support.

There will not be an election until we are willing and able to open up, have debates, campaign, have school, go to work etc. Either we are willing to learn to live with this virus or we won't.

Won't happen. Even with the election going off as scheduled, we won't know the winner for quite a while after election day, depending on how many states go to all mail-in ballots. The infrastructure is not there for counting that many mail ballots, so it will take time. That doesn't even take into consideration the many claims of fraud that will be lodged.

Buckle up because this will be the most scrutinized election of our lifetimes.

Certain powers that be will try to insure that this becomes our new normal. We can't let this happen. The teachers unions have made it their goal in life to keep kids from returning to school.

The virus scare is waaaay overblown but too many of our population is still too scared to do much of anything. Certain power mad politicians at the state level are loving how easy it was to get their population cowed and are loving their new found power. We'll have to see how far they take it and if they are willing to back off once it is obvious that the worst danger has passed.

But I disagree that the election will be postponed. It will go on as scheduled but be different than any Presidential Election that we've ever seen.

Prime example of at risk groups being quarantined and NOT the entire population.

RE: Trump floats delaying the General Election
Quote:Thursday on MSNBC, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said President Donald Trump’s tweet floating an election delay was out of “the playbook of third world countries with dictators.”

Waters said, “This president is absolutely outrageous in the way that he carries out the playbook of third world countries with dictators. This business of delaying the election, Congress is not going to delay any election, and he should know that by now. When he sends out his, you know, paramilitary troops into Portland, when he aligns himself with Putin, when he says he loves Kim Jong-un, this is all about the president— this would-be dictator in our country, who is using the tactics of dictators, particularly in third world countries, and so he is to be ignored. The protesters sent a message to everybody in this country that we are not happy.”

“The American public, for the most part, is not happy with the way things have been going under this administration,” she continued. “We want change. We want to stop the division. We want to stop the racism. We want to do something about police reform. We want to do something about really investing in human potential. This president is about none of that. He’s about himself. So I wish we could just say ignore him, but the fact of the matter is, we’ve got to vote him out of office and get on with strengthening our democracy and undoing the harm that he has caused to all of us in this country.”

Nowhere did I say that it does not/can not kill people, especially those older with comorbidities.

With the armies of lawyers on both sides, the litigation will make Gore v Bush look like a sprint to the end. With Roberts as wobbly as he is, who knows how this may go. We may not have even a declared victor until when? Six months? A year? What then, Acting Potus House Speaker, whoever that is?

The USPS, the Amtrak of mail service, can't deliver what they have now with any reliance or timeliness. Flood them with 70mm or more mail-ins in a week or two time? Good grief. There is NO way this can work.

None.

Nowhere did I say that it does not/can not kill people, especially those older with comorbidities.

Nearly every "older" person in the United States has at least one comorbidity.

BMI > 30 - 3 in 10 US adults
Diabetes - 1 in 10 US adults
Some form of heart disease - 4 in 10 US adults
Smokers - 1 in 10 US adults
Living with cancer - 1 in 20

We're unhealthy as a society. If I had to guess I'd say at least one in four adult Americans have a comorbidity. And I imagine a vast majority of older Americans have to come in contact with their younger family at some point. Personally I do my best to stay away from people so I don't end up killing my grandmother in her 80's. Shrugging it off as overblown would be idiotic since taking precautions is such a minor inconvenience on my part.

I'm assuming that bottom point is talking about the annual CREW report where it names a list of the most corrupt politicians each year.

Here's their report on Trump's conflicts of interest: https://www.citizensforethics.org/trump-...-tracking/

Here's their report on Trump trying to attack IGs: https://www.citizensforethics.org/trump-...watchdogs/
