This. It's hard enough in a normal format no matter how bad the opponent.

depth is going to be an issue due to the injuries. i think we will see a lot of wins on day one followed by a loss the next day

one of the issue in the first game ,,that we are winning by a lot and the bench didnt play any minutes because of that the starter run out of gaz in the second game ,,,,,,

FYI...

Kevin Sweeney@CBB_Central
Wright State's lack of consistency in back-to-backs is wild. Since the New Year:
39-point win vs Oakland, then a 10-point loss the next day.
2-point loss to Youngstown State, then a 38-point win the next day.
2-point loss to Cleveland State, then a 36-point win the next day.
Kevin Sweeney@CBB_Central
Yes, you're reading that right. Wright State has lost to three teams that it beat by 35 or more points that very same weekend!

As a concept, I really like the two game format. The NBA adopted it this season, and it’s been fun to see the adjustments made in the second game. It’s the game within the game.
With that said, HCAK plays such a short bench, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t shoot as well in the second games.

I thought it odd that the bench didn't see more play during Friday's blowout. AK may now have a good lesson going forward that the normal rotation needs to work on stamina for tournament time.

Did you expect UAB to hold them to 37 points again?

My guess is tired legs due to lack of quality depth

Good point. We didn't have anywhere close to the same energy in the second game. Charlotte was close to running away from us in the first half but we were able to battle back by half time.
Biggest problem is our lack of perimeter game.
Nicholson 38.5% from 3 but only 13 attempts (5-13)
Benjamin 30-86 for 34.9% but 24% in CUSA games.
TSG 14-47 29.8%
Ertel 11-45 24.4%
Quan 3-17 17%
I like our team but that kind of shooting will keep my expectations firmly in check.

RE: UAB v CLT Game 2 Thread
A lot of it is mental. These are young players who have a tendency to relax after a big win. The next day the previous day's losing team wants to prove the loss was an abberation. They play harder while the winning team takes victory for granted and doesn't play with the same edge as the previous game. Playing another game quickly(especially the same team two days in a row) doesn't allow the feeling of dominance to dissipate. That's why coaches don't like 20-point victories.

There’s a middle ground between us holding them to 37 points and us getting blown out 24 hrs later. Just weird to see the extremes on back to back nights like that.
