I'm guessing Oklahoma's move sparked a wave or requests.

While the idea of ECU-Marshall having that week to themselves as the lone FBS v. FBS game that week, a little more company on the slate probably helps our chances or the game happening. Was starting to get worried that, if more teams didn't move into week 0, we'd end up with some blanket legislation saying FBS shouldn't start until September.

Good point. There is probably strength in numbers there.

Personally I would love to see SC move the Coastal game up a week or even Wofford from November. Not only do I get to see football 7 days sooner but I think having that bye week between games 1 and 2 would be beneficial for testing and isolating.

Wish college football season would go to 14 regular season weeks indefinitely -- the final Saturday in August to Thanksgiving weekend.

It feels too quick with only 13 weeks.

And it's great to get an additional week of warm weather for half of the country. The other half can just use a bye early on.

Football season will start, fellas.

We might not finish and we might not have many of our non-conference games, but it will start.

Yeah, I'll be in "go to a bunch of games early" mode because odds are there won't be games later on to go to.

Agreed --- assuming they move forward with out-of-conference games, it would certainly benefit South Carolina to move Wofford from the week before the Clemson game in November to late August, when the heat and depth would probably benefit the Gamecocks despite their characteristic inability to defend the option. It would also allow the Cocks to knock out all of their OOC games, save for Clemson, by September 12th and make the November murder’s row - @LSU, Georgia and @ Clemson - less impossible (or give them an excuse to fire Muschamp and cancel the balance of the season if they don't beat Wofford, Coastal and ECU).

With this, I think so. At least in FBS. Still have doubts about FCS, Division II and III.

This is another example of the NCAA codifying, or in this case just blanket waiver, an existing practice.

This tells you how pointless and stupid the rule is in the first place, that the burden of approving exceptions was more than it was worth. They were gate keeping for no particularly good reason. It was a rule that simply codified existing practice.

The NCAA is full of BS rules like that, to make it look like they call the shots. Leadership by trailing.

Well given that the Marlins season is suspended, maybe I'm no so sure about college football.

Big 12 might use this waiver, or at least put out a schedule using it, that would be conference games only and begin in week zero.

This is going to be one weird football season.

Oklahoma and Kansas already filled those weeks with FCS opponents. Best chance of finishing the season 1-0. #NationalChampions

I would LOVE to see a lot of August 29 games. CFB can't come soon enough for me.

Leave Wofford where it is. I'm thinking of driving down to that game in November if things loosen up and the virus numbers drop. Of course that will be dependent on ticket availability too. It's nice to leave the Northeast for a few days in November when winter is getting close and the warm weather still exists in Columbia. Love tailgating at the fairgrounds and walking through the campus in November before ski season starts up North in December. Prior to November I hit a couple of Rutgers and Temple games up North. I also allow for an academy game and a local D-2/D-3 game at schools my kids have graduated from, and tailgate there on their alumni days.

10-11 conference games? Sounds like the makings for a late season, flex scheduled 4 team playoff.

I'm on board with this. Gives teams more breaks, and there are too many games going on at the same time right now. I could easily go for 40 games a week instead of 60 (with over a dozen in the same timeslot).

If I’m a P5 conference I’m front loading the schedule with the biggest tv draws rather than holding them back for rivalry week.
