I was surprised the data predicted a down season for Charlotte in 2020. Going into this, I actually thought the Clt was going to build on last season's success. But, before their 2020 class the recruiting had been really bad. Healy had a great first season, but the eastern division is very strong in 2020. Charlotte probably won't be able to surprise teams, and their lack of depth is a concern. While Charlotte has brought in some player to fill holes, they probably don't have enough to compete with the more talented programs in C-USA East.

Charlotte (2-6)
L- @ FAU
L- @ North Texas
L- FIU
W- UTEP
L- @ MTSU
W- ODU
L- @ Marshall
L- WKU

I'll post #11 later this week.

Ready to walk this back, Joe? Tweak the formula to not rely on 2 year old recruiting? Perhaps pay attention to the transfers coming or backups that looked great in limited roles? Or maybe just watch the games fromlaat year.

You lost a lot of cred with this pick.

Ha! No. Charlotte is a 1-2 team right now, and beat a North Texas team that is the worst in C-USA. I don't expect Charlotte to have as much success with the remainder of their schedule. In fact, judging by the way UTEP played LA Tech last night, that game may be a loss for CLT too. No, I still believe Charlotte to be among the worst teams in C-USA East. Of course COVID can alter the outcome of games on a weekly basis, so every prediction is a toss up this season.

Here's how I see UTEP finishing:

10/17 - USM - W
10/24 - @ Charlotte - L
10/31 - N Texas - W
11/07 - FIU - W
11/14 - @ UTSA - L
11/21 - UAB - L
11/28 - @ Rice - W

So, I see UTEP going 4-3 over their last 7 games, and finishing 7-5 for the regular season. Hello Independence Bowl!!

Using the formulas that Joe created, he still had Marshall as the number one team in the conference.

And this was at a time that nobody thought Marshall would be the top team.

So I don't think his formula is broken, but there's still a lot of season to be played.

So being one score away from App for 58:00 minutes, missing two fg’s and having a td taken off the board and being 16 yards from winning at FAU (which is a whole lot better than what UTEP did against La Tech) plus kicking the crap out of UNT on the road and we’re still bad????

If you think this is the 12th best football team in this conference, your formula is terrible and you need to watch games more than worrying about formulas.

10 and 4 point wins against FCS teams and blowing out Monroe ain’t going to beat Charlotte after traveling 2200 miles.
You have an anti Charlotte bias. Admit it and move on.

Look. This year's version of App St, isn't as good as previous years. But, congratulations on keeping it respectable. Your loss to FAU was closer than I expected, but it was FAU's first game of the season. There is always rust. COVID is also changing rosters on game day too. There is no accounting for how many players each team will lose on any given week, or how important those lost players are to a team. There is a lot of season left to play. Maybe Charlotte out preforms my predictions, maybe not. We will see. Like I said in the game thread... congratulations on your win Saturday.

Respectable at App? We lead for quite a while, and were tied or within 1 score until 1 minute was left. In fact we had the ball in the red zone down a TD (trying to tie the game and got stopped on 4th down) with 4 minutes left. At FAU we lead 10-0 at the half, missed 2 field goals our guy normally makes and had a td called back for a penalty which was questionable AND occurred on the opposite side of the field (had zero effect on the play) and still only lost by four, being stopped again on 4th down inside the 10 yard line on the last play of the game. Also, both of those games (against defending league champs) were on the road. We haven't played at home yet. As for FAU playing their first game against us....we had only played one and it was 3 weeks before.....you will learn soon enough, but you will be proven wrong about Charlotte, again.

Maybe you guys don't remember but I was the only one predicting Charlotte to not be crap last season....

FROM POST #62 OF THE 2019 SCHEDULE BREAKDOWNS

We now reach what I call the middle of the conference. I think it is a very small group too.

#9 Charlotte

I think the schedule creates a good opportunity for Charlotte to increase their wins total this season. The 9ers bring back more defensive players than another other program in C-USA. That experience should be big for them.

While I did not perfectly predict Charlotte's season last year, I got a lot closer than most. Like I stated in my last post... there is a lot of season left to play. We will see how Charlotte preforms.
