RE: Covid lies, damned lies and statistics in Florida
my 21 yr. old daughter and her roomie tested covid+ a few days ago...

do you guys think I'm worried???

hint: not in the least

why? b/c they're both healthy and show few signs....the only reason my daughter got tested was b/c her roomie tested positive....

I hugged her the day after she tested and told her, "I'm certain I had it back in December when I could barely talk... let's see if I'm right....I love you NEH!"

yep....

About that Fox article, it doesn't define overwhelmed. It cites a couple ventilator issues & that's about it. Article is from March & we know a hell lot more about it then we did in March, which was why the doctors they were interviewing were so concerned.

A guy in my office just caught it last week. He's 60 years old, morbidity obese, diabetic with high blood pressure and he's just fine. Frankly it's all crap and always has been.

Well the regular flue is about 1/4th that.

Yes and the regular flu, despite being less severe than COVID, is still considered a pretty big deal if you haven't noticed. It's been normalized to most people because we don't think its ever going away, but the flu season is no joke in the medical world.

Since we do have a vaccine that works well enough to basically ensure we won't have capacity issues in a bad flu season, lockdowns and such wouldn't really have any purpose for the flu.

Well it still kills an average of 40,000 every year, in bad years 70 or 80,000. And it doesn't confine its damage to those over 60 or in bad health. Yet we still send kids to school in the winter.

You are correct. We have figured out how to mitigate it to the best of our ability and deal with what we have to, unlike this coronavirus.

Although bad new strains have led to shutdowns and social distancing in the past.

Proof of this too, cause that's BS. Only a small percentage of the population even gets a flu shot.

47% of people took it in 2017, more in the 65+ demographic. So that's quite a bit of protection and progress toward herd immunity, for the strains the vaccine covers.

NYC it was worse than what that resident was used to. President Trump sent the hospital ships. And they soon left because the number of patients they handled was in the dozens. They weren't needed. There's been no place in the US where the hospitals have had more than they could handle, at least not yet.

Well you are overstating it the other way. I can give you an example of a relatively healthy 58 year old former co-worker of my wife who died of it a couple weeks ago. And I do know of two others who have died, but both were elderly and high risk.

This is true, although I would count panicked workers running out of equipment as "overwhelmed". But I have no doubt if we just lived life as normal it would have been real bad.

Most of the scientists and medical experts supported the shutdown measures and that's why I formed the opinion, so this isn't as good of a burn as you think it is.

People lying on top of each other in protest by the thousands is apparently okay tho, as well as burning our cities down. Virus knows not to touch Marxists. In fact, it's encouraged. "Summer of love!"

Scientists have gone back & forth on the masks as well, I believe.

You're comparing people outside largely in masks to people dancing and making out drunk in bars, dude. And one of those activities, even if you disagree with the aim, is a bit more important to those people.

The protesting is certainly not ideal for COVID management but there are more risky things out there.

So the virus can get tossed out the window if what they're attending is important to people, is what you said..

Why was the protests outside against Big Gretch considered the virus incarnate, but the Marxist riots in Detroit attended by thousands more praised & adored (and attended by her!) (and elsewhere all across the country)

Your scientists didn't say **** about the Marxist protests not being ideal for COVID management. That's your opinion. It's not - at least wasn't initially - shared by the doctors. They only had to come out & say it after the conservatives started noticing the double-standard.

There's a LOT of outdoor things still closed & it's mind boggling watching the Dem politicians enforce the rules against them but be all-in for their 'important' riots.

There was so much wrong w/ that post. It's all his opinion. Gatherings are okay if it's Democrat or Marxist because THEY are important! (Most of the protestors looked like spoiled white millennials to me) You know he's been following CNN too much!

Does a virus really care if you're outside or not? Especially if you're not maintainining 'social distancing' & are actually doing the complete opposite? Viruses would never have been able to 'evolve' to get the point where we're at in time now if they couldn't.
