Agree. I bet good leadership could cut 10% across the board... every government agency... without layoffs... and the citizenry wouldn't even notice. Heck, could probably cut 5%+ just through attrition and not backfilling.

Political hacks don't go into the weeds and manage these budgets. They might add special interest items and give targets, but they I don't think Marco Rubio or Patrick Lehey are going through this stuff line item by line item and asking questioms. The Pentagon groupthink figured out that military social programs and sex change operations are more important than flight time. Unless someone or some group dangling money asks the politicians to look into it, the don't give a crap.
