Mexico never owned Texas. They were allowed to be tenants so the Apaches and Comanches could steal their horses.

Texans took Texas from the Apache and Comanche, but it took nearly 50 years.

Little known fact, a freak snowstorm in northern Mexico and Indian raids wiped out 1/3 of Santa Anna's army before he got to the Alamo.
As forces separated in the snow, Indians raided and killed the stragglers.

Texas was never stolen from Mexico...
