RE: New conference
This thread encapsulates this board entirely.

First, yet another thread about a conference. Rehash of the same tired stuff.

Second, a multi page petty back and forth ***** envy monologues. Where whenever anyone, such as Smitty, tries to Get back on track they are ignored. All so several posters, such as Ever (not singling you out) can each get the last word in. Over and over again. Why don’t you guys get each other phone numbers so you can send pictures of your junk and get it over with.

I know Philly extremely well. My best friend lives in Philly and I visit him often - and have visited for work several times. Be proud of your city...but cesspool is kind - it’s a s-hole! It’s the only place I have seen a kids’ play area essentially caged in; trash bags on the streets; burned out cars on the street; drug deals in plain view; my friend who has to put his kids in private school b/c public is god awful. But be proud of your city! And, yes, Virginia is that much better.

I've lived in the city proper for 12 years and seen none of that, so I don't believe you. You best friend sounds very poor if he encounters that, so no wonder his kid are in private school.

FYI, city public schools are awful in every single large city in the country. We do happen to have two elite public schools in the city, so tell your friend it's too bad his kids didn't get into Central or Masterman.

Believe what you want. I don’t care. The only thing I appreciate about Philly is its cultural diversity. Same as NYC - although NYC doesn’t have as many folks who think they’re Rocky.

I feel bad your friend lives in the hood.

Thanks for the support. It is a sad situation. He lives in Philly.

I stayed there often when visiting the paper mill just downriver from there. That is a terrific hotel, with great dining options easily walkable (or via elevator - Waterstone).

I was actually having a civil, non argumentative discussion about Philly with our visitor on this one.

Never been to Lynchburg. Driven through a few times and didn't see a city (road must have bypassed).

It was the coolest hotel I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. And that includes hotels in NYC, philly, and other major cities. My wife checked our family in while the rest of us waited outside because of masking requirements. I didn’t realize the person at the front desk asked my wife why we were visiting their hotel - and when we checked out we received a hand-written note with personal notes thanking us for our visit and specifics related to our visit. I have never experienced such a cool hotel with such a personal touch. And it is pet friendly. The note we received re: our stay was technically from the house dog “penny loafer” who stays at the front desk. Extremely cool experience. Charming to say the least.

It sounds like it. I'd love to know where he lives, because it certainly isn't in my neighborhood.

Please share where you live. It will not make philly any better. I know that city - and it is a cesspool. You know it, too. It’s why you take offense. The truth apparently hurts you.

I live in Rittenhouse. I'd love for you to tell me my neighborhood is a cesspool. There's at least one billionaire in my building that I'm aware of.

Philly vs. Lynchburg.... I'll take "Things I thought I'd never see in the ODU message board" for $200, Alex.

Now, Norfolk vs. Richmond is another story! 02-13-banana

RE: Threadjack Split — Philly and Lynchburg.
Philly is like every other big city if you have traveled around. Although the sports fans are complete shitheads, it is no different than any other big city in terms of trash etc.

I personally hate Philly because I don't find it that entertaining of a city (as opposed to NY, DC, Chicago, Boston, etc). Some good food choices but very lacking overall (for my tastes).

Did you throw up a gang sign after you typed Rittenhouse?

RE: Threadjack Split — Philly and Lynchburg.
Visited an Aunt when I was 12. She lived in Paoli, on the main line. Visited Franklin Museuum, had myfirst soft pretzel, saw Louie Armstrong at the theater in the round, had a great time looking for Dick Clark and those hot Italian girls from Bandstand. Very fond memories.

Philly is just like most other big cities,if you have money, it'scan be a great place to live, if you are poor, forget about it.
