Kudos to the NCAA. Their leadership is outstanding.

Fall sports that don't make money like soccer and volleyball can be postponed. It seems silly to talk of cancelling championships now.

Is postponement to spring an option on the table or is it all or nothing?

I suspect Division II and III get cancelled and they delay deciding on Division I.

The NCAA Board of Governors does meet today to discuss this. If they cancel fall championships, it includes everything at the D1-D3 level except FBS football because post season play isn't under NCAA control.

If they do cancel, this doesn't automatically mean that all sports are cancelled until spring, it just means there is no tournament at the end of the season. It is up to each conference/school to decide if they still play on, but I would think most would shift to spring. I would imagine almost every single Division 3 school will cancel fall sports if this happens as well because of the financial burden of testing. At the division 3 school I'm at it would cost our conference roughly 3 million dollars to test fall athletes and staff weekly. This is a challenge for most at this level.

This is a rare chance for the NCAA to exercise some leverage over the P5. Canceling all the other Fall sports championships would put pressure on the CFP to cancel its playoffs as well.

I sure hope that does not happen.

Screw this. UC Santa Barbara is scheduled to host the men's soccer Final Four. We lose some nice coin if it is postponed.

The NCAA doesn't currently sponsor championships or the playoff for football. The conferences do that themselves. i.e. a decision to cancel would actually help programs in that they will now have an excuse to cancel their garbage non-sports activities like volleyball and basketball.

Yeah some are getting it but they have no symptoms and if they are have recovered. They aren’t at risk.

Looks to me like nobody wants to be the first to yeah or nah on playing so they can fall in line. Everyone should have known The ACC wouldn’t be the first P5 to make the call. That would require leadership. The ACC doesn’t lead. It will wait for The SEC to decide and then fall in line accordingly.

If I was them I'd wait until August 4 or 5 too. Need to see what is going on with the Marlins first. That situation could quickly spiral out of control or it could just be limited to a few players.
