There is no difference. As someone who’s in the middle, I see both sides acting the same way, just for different reasons.

BLM MLB logo in black on the mound as well.

I turned it off after that. I'm fine with KBO. I won't be watching any more MLB this season though.

What I didn’t get was MLB went out of their way to give these guys a platform. Speeches, patches, a moment of silence to kneel. Then they all stood up for the national anthem. Then some of them went and took a knee during the anthem. If taking a knee wasn’t about disrespecting the flag, then what was the point of taking the knee a second time specifically during the anthem?

Terrible optics. Can somewhat understand individual "protests", but this was clearly a coordinated effort and half these players looked extremely uncomfortable. I guess individual rights don't matter anymore. Time to do the anthem when they are still in the locker room or don't do it at all. Is it time for hockey yet?

Right? Just scrap the national anthem at sporting events. They are private entertainment enterprises, not government or military rites. Why isn't the national anthem played at all concerts and movie showings?

If they were smart they would nix it. Because I WILL walk away from any sport condoning kneeling and/or BLM messaging. When they are outraged at only a small fraction of the deaths of POC, then it’s a bullish!t cause.
I am in agreement. It is a lose/lose. If the anthem is played, they alienate a significant chunk of the audience whether they stand or kneel for it. I didn't stop watching football over Kaepernick... just concluded he is a disrespectful ahole; however, this is a coordinated and sanctioned display of disrespect. I don't watch baseball anyway, but when this happens in the NFL... and I'm sure it will... I just might tune out.

RE: MLB and Kneeling
Remember the old days when the teams came out to warm up, then went back to the locker room, and they played the anthem before they came back on the field? When they did come back, they did it by announcing the starters for each team, and they ran onto the field one by one, followed by everybody else. I actually enjoyed the starter introductions. I thought it was a pretty emotional moment that created a great atmosphere for starting the game. I understand the military pays money to have the anthem played, but I can't believe they are getting their money's worth out of this situation. I remember George Allen was really big on special teams play, and he used to piss the league off because he would have his special teams "starters" announced.

Not often I agree wholeheartedly with Fox News.

Quote:Jimmy Failla: Please MLB, after months without sports, don't let my escape turn into just another protest

What players seem to be forgetting is that for many people, the whole point of taking in a game is to escape the torments of everyday life

American sports fans are desperate to watch live games in these COVID times. Maybe not as desperate as a group of fans in Lublin, Poland who rented large cranes so they could see into a football stadium that had banned them, but we’re pretty desperate nonetheless.

Just to be clear, in Lublin, Poland “football’ means soccer. As opposed to say, Cleveland, Ohio where ‘football’ means sadness.

The good news for fans of American team sports is our long national nightmare will end this week when the baseball season begins Thursday.

The bad news is the games won’t provide us with the badly needed escape from political infighting many of us turn to them for because National Anthem protests have taken center stage during the final week of spring training.

I tried to sit thru an inning last night....not only was the empty stadium a 'black eye', but the BLM BS was beyond a 'no fly zone'

this is easily the worst biz model one could design at this point....

What stream were you watching? I tuned at 7 and it was 10 minutes of mostly BLM and content padded between commercials.

TBH, I just don't care what these athletes do/don't do. I just want to watch the game. They are entitled to their opinions, even if they are idiotic.

ESPN, tuned in and saw the girl in the uni standing on the concourse and then the first pitch of the game.

Yep, and the guys that went out and bought Goya were not trying to show the world how PC and woke they are on tv like the athletes. They did it with their own money and donated the goods to people that are in need. They aren't millionaires crying about how bad their people have it and don't even donate to their cause. It's just political grandstanding and we don't have to waste our time with them, THAT'S OUR RIGHT.

Screw pro sports, I hope everyone shows them how badly we don't need them.

The issue is what happens when your favorite college team decides to get Woke?

BLM had Marxist organizers and is a political party more than an organic movement. It is corrupt. I'm all for equal justice and all humans being treated equally.
