"Gillispie noted that the sport has changed some from the last time he was coaching in Division I. ("The Lakers took 42 3s [the other night]," he said. "Everyone's trying to shoot 30 to 45 3s.") But for him, it's just coaching basketball. No different than Texas' Ellison High School or the University of Kentucky."

Makes me wonder: are 30-45 3's per game a sign of things to come for us in the WAC? Complete opposite of what we're used to seeing at Tarleton, for sure.

CBU and NMSU (and SU to a lesser degree) were on their way to 30 3s per game last season, but the rest of the WAC isn't quite there yet:

2019-20 WAC 3s per game

CBU - 26.0
NMSU - 25.7
SU - 23.4
UVU - 21.1
UTRGV - 18.6
GCU - 18.0
CSU - 17.5

**TSU - 20.2
**DSU - 18.8

20 per game for us surprised me. Thought it was lower, or maybe just a fluke year. Turns out, we've shot an avg. of 20-22/game dating back to the Lonn years. Disciplined screen/pass motion offense is what we're used to.

The way BCG has rebuilt this team, that's what got me thinking we could be going for 30-45/game this year. That seems to be his critique of D1 basketball today, or the evolution of it during the years he's been away. Hope so. Ready for some run-n-gun!
