RE: Open Thread - Big 10 News Plus.
Take it for what it's worth, we shall see.
Quote:A pre-set eight-game schedule will begin the week after New Year's Day, likely kicking off on Wednesday, Jan. 7 or Thursday, Jan. 8, and progressing through the weekend.

- The goal will be to not have games overlapping with each other, opening up multiple game slots to various broadcast partners.

- Every team would have one bye weekend.

- No games would be held on campuses, instead moving the entirety of the schedule to neutral sites, which are still to be determined.

- A conference championship game between the top finishers in the East and West divisions would take place the second weekend in March at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

Additionally, sources indicate that there is also a possibility, with the occurrence of a similar "spring" season for the Pac-12, that the two conferences could pit their champions against each other for a traditional Rose Bowl.

Quote:The Big Ten is considering several domes as sites for a potential winter 2021 football season, The Dispatch has learned.

Amanda Babb, the president of the Ohio State football parents group, said in an interview Wednesday that she had heard that indoor stadiums in Indianapolis, St. Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis and possibly even Syracuse, New York, were under consideration.

Later Wednesday, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith confirmed that, texting "Yes and others" when asked about those potential sites. He declined to add details.

Well I would take a drive up to Syracuse to see a game! Rutgers will get the dome in the upper Peninsula though.

We have a spot here for Mr. Olson.
Iowa mens basketball coach 1974-1983
Coached Arizona Wildcats to the 1997 NCAA Championship.

RIP Robert Luther "Lute" Olson!
Quote:The greatest coach in Arizona basketball history has died. Lute Olson, the man who guided the University of Arizona to an unlikely 1997 NCAA Tournament championship, died Thursday at the age of 85, according to the university. Olson, who suffered a minor stroke in 2019, had been in declining health in recent months.

Quote:COLUMBUS — The fight for bringing back Big Ten football has reached the White House.

Sources with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to Lettermen Row that government officials reached out to commissioner Kevin Warren on Monday night to set up a call designed to see if there was anything President Donald Trump could do to help the league resume the postponed fall season. The primary objective for the Tuesday conference call, according to sources, was to discuss the availability of testing, which is believed to be one of the biggest looming hurdles for the Big Ten when it comes to planning any sort of return to action.

Oklahoma vs. Missouri State.
The Sooners have some wonderful fans, are they willing to spend $54.99?
Is this real?
Quote:ESPN’s Dave Wilson wrote on Twitter that Oklahoma’s opener against the Bears will cost $54.99 on pay-per-view.

RE: Open Thread - Big 10 News Plus.
Starting mid- to late-October or even right after Thanksgiving is just embarrassing. It's better than spring, both logistically and for perception, but moving it back to the fall/winter is just admitting failure. I mean, is it that much safer two months later than the original start-up date?

Oklahoma charging $55 for a PPV? That is some good third-tier rights! There must be a market for it, and there will be less fans in the stands this year so more potential buyers. They'd have to give that up if they left the Big 12 but it would be made up in other areas.

Yeah, I wouldn't Recommend some of these leaders visiting the Varsity Club on Gameday in Columbus.
