USM AD: We're looking for a home opponent on Sept 19th. Who's down!?
Since the SWAC has cancelled football this fall, USM is trying to find a home replacement for Jackson State...who wants to come to The Rock (assuming there is a season)??

We should definitely continue the series. Hurricanes suck.

Any Arky State fans? I've heard we might be trying to get Ark State since their game w/ Michigan has been cancelled?

Looking at the week 3 FBS schedules and Ark State is the only current road team within driving distance who has an opening. I realize USM wants a home game to give us 6 but here's a few teams that could make it worth it financially for us with openings: Texas A&M or Texas Tech, OR we could possibly try one with ECU but doubt the payday would be enough to justify the expenses. Very unlikely scenario in playing a CUSA team as a non conference game but La Tech has an opening but considering they already have 7 road games the game would have to be at their place.

EDIT...we have a bye week on Nov 7th but the only reasonable team it appears with an open that day is UCF but I feel like that goes back to the ECU opinion of will the payday be worth the trip.

I'd be down for a road game at Texas AM or Texas Tech, especially if the money is nice.

I sent an email to our AD telling him to play a home and home with Elon on September 12 and 19.
Schools are close and both need the games.

Can’t believe some people still think football is happening.

Why would we want do that when App is possibly going have an open date on the week of the 12th and ECU has an open date on the 19th?

I mean, dude.

Why would you say that? Do you personally know Niner National? What if he had a family member die of this s...?

The lack of empathy on both sides of this is just so ugly.

Yes we need hope right now. However, I can see why some believe football seems an unlikely proposition We don't have NFL money.

Maybe the "hope for the positive" is that football is postponed -- given the grim stats right now. I feel bad for people who value a football game over the health and safety of another human -- be it a player, coach, or fan.

How can you possibly speak for player or coach? As for fan, you can speak to you but no one else. No where did he say anything about valuing the health of anyone over a football game.

Ask any coach or player on the Western team I bet you will get at the very least 99% hoping for a football season. Stop being so sensitive , Karen.

The grim stats right now, those who our governor (KY0 said it was important to let them protest in any way they felt like doing...social distancing be damn. Are starting test positive in large numbers .

June 18th state’s total at 13,187 cases, 520 people dead , 470 hospitalized, 86 in ICU

July 21 The total coronavirus cases in the state are now 24,060....11k more since June 18th. The number of people hospitalized currently is at 532 and 103 in ICU

That tells you that while the number of cases have almost doubled in one month....the people being hospitalized or in ICU are not keeping up with the high infection rate.

Most likely a large % of young people. People who are not needing any treatment. Or very little. People who our governor was OK with standing side by side with no mask on in large groups....1000s

Again ask any FB player and coach and I bet nationally iN FBS 98% will want to play. So are they valuing football over their own health? Karen's dont speak for those players and coaches.

I used to think that. However, even NFL players are protesting their startup over a lack of testing and PPE equipment.

We all want football to happen man, however, everyone needs to chill out.

I remember you had the crazy experience with your brother and Covid. I'm thankful it worked out eventually. This hasn't for others. Still, I can't believe the staff treated him that way.

My point is, let's respect each other's opinion, and be thankful we can still come here to talk about sports!

Even if sports do shut down, I still want some kind of thoughtful and respectful discussions here. So I say this with nothing but respect. It's not just one person, we all need to chill here.

One other thing the governor of KY said today....

if a person is tested twice and both are positive its counted as 2 cases. Every test that comes back positive is counted as another case. I know for a 100% fact my brother was tested at the very least 4 times.

Once in the er and once after getting to the covid floor, 2 days later. He was also tested twice more before he finally tested negative. I would bet everyone in the hospital is tested at the very least twice.

Every positive test has to be reported

Quote: On if somebody gets 2 tests & is positive twice - are they double counted in statewide data,
@StevenStackMD
says "it depends."
- When we provide daily positive #'s - those are diff people.
- For test positivity, we take total # positive reported that day divided by total tested.

As for deaths in Ky 450 of the 670 came from long term care homes. That's 67% of all deaths and only around 9% of total case 2245 out of 24k
