Now we're getting somewhere, lol.

Pittsburgh-area company makes drone that can disinfect an entire stadium in 3 hours
The drone can be used indoors and outside

Researchers have developed a new coronavirus-era drone that can disinfect an entire sports stadium within three hours.

Aeras Fog Company, which is based in Wexford, Pa., said the machine utilizes electrostatic technology to sanitize large areas by discharging cleaner through its nozzles, which attach to both ground surfaces and underneath seats and other surfaces, like railings. It can spray up to 20 acres per hour.

“If this wasn’t going to be something that’s going away in a short period of time, there needs to be a solution to get people back to the things they enjoy doing,” Nick Brucker, a cofounder of the company, told CBS 2. He founded the company along with entrepreneurs Justin Melanson and Eric Lloyd.

Aeras Fog said the drone can be used indoors and out and that any cleaned area can be safely occupied three minutes after it is sprayed. The company recently tested the drone system on Pittsburgh’s Highmark Stadium and expects to have all the required certifications by this fall.

just seems like it's replacing what humans would be doing after an event. what we need (other than a working vaccine) is something that makes a stadium safe for 4 hours so that the event can take place.

Couldn't Ozone Generators be used in indoor stadiums? .

Cool idea, but we now know a pretty small # of infections actually come from surface contact. Good system though, covid or no covid. Really should not have fans this season.

Now we just need a drone that can identify which of the forty or fifty or sixty thousand or more fans entering that stadium are infected. The stadium isn't the problem, it's the folks in it.

True, I get the point, but I disagree somewhat. Research has shown that the virus lingers on some surfaces for up to 3 days. But if you spray shortly before you allow fans in, you disinfect from any workers or players being around for recent maintenance or practice, so it is a bit useful. And more importantly, it will make people feel more comfortable.

And if you have a college team sharing with an NFL team (USF & Tampa Bay, and several other examples), then it's extremely useful.

And they said it works equally well inside or outside. In basketball arenas, especially in Memphis' situation, sharing space with the Grizzlies, sometimes on the same day, it's a big deal.

This is good, if only the "Jug Heads" making the decisions would actually take the time to look at all options before saying "NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT"

Hoping that this company has the resources to test at the indoor arenas of the NBA, WNBA, and the NHL before September.
