OT (maybe): COVID impact this big?
So MLS has 4 expansion teams coming into the league. This week they announced that while Austin gets to start next year as planned Charlotte, Sacramento, and St Louis all get pushed back a year due to the “impact of COVID-19.” We’re talking 2022 (Charlotte) and 2023 (St Louis and Sacramento).

Surely there can’t be data out there that suggests C-19 will still be impacting things down 2-3 years from now...

RE: OT (maybe): COVID impact this big?
There is increasing data that suggests that. Some of the initial studies are coming in on antibodies and the results are not good. The antibodies produced during infection are not being maintained by the human body. In the immediate weeks post infection antibodies continued to decline and in some antibodies were completely gone after three months. That’s an incredibly disturbing outcome. It could also indicate even with a vaccine it may not sufficiently protect people without multiple doses throughout the year. The vaccine should be a good match when it comes out but how long it will actually offer protection is seriously in question.

No one knows at this point. Odds are good there will be a 2nd wave over the winter months.. Who knows if a vaccine will be available in 6 mos. or if better treatments will be on line that soon. It is all a crap shoot.
