Someone with better TV reception and better hearing might tell us what news was shared if any. Most I heard was that no real decisions had been made about the football season yet.

What happened in the first interview between Mackin and Finebaum that Judy references. Assuming it was derogatory toward UAB.

If any G5 conference wants to be taken seriously they will have to be in step with whatever the P5 conferences do(in terms of playing or not). Any G5 conference that cancels the season before the P5 does (or does not) has relegated itself (and its teams) to the minor leagues and further increases the P5-G5 gap perception and greatly harms the status of their conference.

Yep. Something else to consider is, what if those p5 teams cancel? We should see if ESPN would be willing to put our conference games on tv. What better chance at exposure would our league ever get?

Or the G5 schools look like the "TBT" of college football by playing after the P5 have put player safety over profits.

I don't know if it would have been the smart move financially, I would have been more proud of CUSA if she said the truth: That CUSA would already have cancelled all fall sports, but we have to wait for a "general consensus" before risking getting left behind.

I'd rather UAB never play football again than be the type of institution that would sacrifice the lives of students to grab some TV money

if you get football at uab ,,,it will be without spectator like everywhere in the wolrd is doing with soccer right now
some country have now some spectator ,,,,

fyi it is a new virus with no one had immunity for it

everyone someday will be in contact (aka infected ) with the virus and you got 99.994 percent of chance of survive it (calculate the number of death /total world population )

the second wave is the first wave of people who were isolated when the virus came to town

Please ,if you dont want to get in contact with it ,,,stay home and dont meet no one until you died from natural cause
one more thing ,,if you need a ventilator because of the virus ,,,it is a death sentence 90 % of the time

it is a sad situation but we need to deal with it
stop watching the new ,,,,they scare people

stay young ,,dont smoke, dont get diabetis, dont be immunosuppress and when you get the virus ,hope that you will be in the big group who survive it

"everyone is going to get it anyway" is harmful nonsense that did not get lost in translation. IIRC Frenchy is an anesthesiologist, not an epidemiologist. He's been a great ally for UAB Football, but has shown kind of nutty views the past few months on corona

That everyone will eventually get it and only 99.94% of people will die. The implication of this argument is that we should just go about our lives and not try to control it.

Does Frenchy means everyone in the world will get it or just people in the U.S.?

Isn't the idea that many or most will eventually get covid behind "flattening the curve"? This is to manage the outbreak so as to keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed. A flattened curve is still a curve. Until an effective vaccine is created, slowing the spread is probably the best we can achieve. Most of us have had a form of the A1/N1H1 flu virus at some point in our lives. Supposedly most common strains of flu can be traced back to the 1918 outbreak.

Btw, I agree with masking and social distancing. People have been working (and not whining) for long shifts in masks for months. Why it seems to be such a burden to wear one for 30 minutes while you are in a store is just beyond me. On all sides we've become the United States of Waaah. Pitiful.

Exactly. It will become something we live with rather than live without much like influenza. Current flu strains can trace their lineage back to the 1918 pandemic. All we're trying to do is keep it tamped down to give us the best shot at giving everyone the best care without completely overwhelming the system.

For the record, epidemiology is part of everyone's medical training. We have to have it to accurately interpret our specialty literature data and assist in hospital administration.

Well, we're not flattening the curve, would be my primary response. Also, if we can keep it flat enough until there is a vaccine we won't need to worry about everyone ever getting it, and there is *a lot* of good news on the vaccine front, that if it keeps going like it's going we'll have something in December or January, but we can't even keep our sht together for 2 months, so I don't hold out a lot of hope for the next 6

Not everyone, by a long shot, in Europe has caught or will catch it but there are counties in Florida with more daily cases than all of Europe, who is reopening and has sports happening so it seems to me that we have options beyond "well everyone's gonna get it and our olds had a good run"
