Anyone else read about St. Thomas jumping from D3 to D1?

Yes. They were an absolute juggernaut in D3 football. Mary Hardin Baylor could take the same quantum leap, if they were so inclined.

I'm not sure that their other sports would hold up that well against D1 competition since they're mediocre in D3. It'll be very interesting to see how a powerhouse D3 school would fare against FCS competition though. Facilities wise they're definitely ready though. They arguably have the best non FBS stadium in the state and their baseball and softball facilities are decent. Basketball arena is pretty nice but a bit small at 2500 seats. Small for D1 but perfect size for them.

what about Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mount Union?...they were going back and forth with the DIII Football Championships for a few years...
