NFL and NBA have proved that football and basketball, respectively, can be incredibly boring to watch.

Somebody once describe football as combining the two worst aspects of US society, mass violence punctuated by committee meetings. Football is becoming more and more committee meetings. The amount of dead time is absurd. Mass violence is at least entertaining to watch. Committee meetings aren't.

The NBA version of offense is now 5 guys standing around throwing the ball back and forth until somebody jacks up a 3. Movement without the ball seems to be a lost and forgotten art. I watched game 7 of the NBA playoffs a few years ago when Cleveland beat the Warriors. It was a huge game and a close game, and as such should have been very exciting. I could watch about 2 minutes at a time and then got so bored I had to switch to something else.

People ask me how I can find soccer and rugby exciting. Simply, the action never really stops. Soccer is 90 minutes, rugby is 80 minutes, both plus halftimes. Both are over well under 2 hours. You have to understand a little bit about the game to appreciate the action, but rugby is not that far from US football, and both are tactically a lot like basketball, or at least like basketball used to be--create space and get the ball to somebody in that space. Coaching women's rugby, I always found it very easy to explain strategy and tactics to women who had played basketball.

The Potomac Panderers. They can sign Colin Kaepernick and complete the process.

Well, I came up with another idea. Since it was a matter of losing sponsorship if they didn't change their name then I think it should change to the Benjamins. The Washington Benjamins, people will think it's in honor of Benjamin Franklin because he wasn't a slave owner (that I know of).

I don't see them abandoning their old color scheme and likewise I don't see them going red, white, and blue like the Nationals and the Capitals.

I also think that anything remotely Native American in nature will cause another stir.

Funny how it's almost entirely white people who are offended by the name.

Crossfire Hurricanes

Or, maybe just the “Gates”.

Since everything up there is a gate of one sort or another. Remember Two-Scoopgate?

Rugby I'll give you... Australian Rules Football, I'll give you (although it has some slow points). Soccer.. Nope.. Sorry, but there is no ACTION in soccer for the vast majority of it. (til you get toward the goal ends of the field).

As for the renaming... Didn't CBS or maybe it was FOX, try something a couple of years ago, where they refused to call them the Redskins on air, and would only call them Washington. That went over like a lead balloon as I recall.
