That would be fantastic!
By the way, as far as this post-season, is Bellarmine eligible for anything besides the conference tournament? Around the time the D-I move was announced, and then again later on, I heard Scotty say that the Knights could play in the NIT in year one of D-I. But I've subsequently read articles which conflict with that. Is BU immediately eligible for any of the NIT, CBI, or CIT?
I believe they are eligible, the real question is whether any of those tourneys going to be held this year

That would be cool. Haven't had a chance to look into it, but today a fellow alum and Knights fan sent me a link to some 2021 NIT predictive "bracketology," and he was surprised that Bellarmine wasn't on there.

Quick item non basketball. ASUN website headline shows Emma Schurfranz of Kennesaw State as Volleyball player of the week. Emma is a Mercy High graduate and first cousin of BU former player Willie Schurfranz, also niece and granddaughter of former BU players Tom and Jim Schurfranz.

Thanks -- like I said, I remember hearing Scotty indicate such multiple times, but, more recently, not heard much chatter about the possibility of an NIT, etc. berth. Assuming present trends continue, one has to think that Bellarmine has at least a shot at the NIT.
Seems that the fan base in general is quite excited about what's happening, but I still get a kick out of the occasional member of the old guard who would rather think timidly, worries about the growth of BU, and would rather the Knights just compete for D-II "national championships." I've said it before, but, in general, that kind of thinking has let the city of Louisville get severely "lapped" by peer cities like Indy, Nashville, and Columbus.

Cool. My man Tom's a grandfather? And isn't Jim his father?

Tom is the uncle of this Emma Schurfranz (her father is Tom's brother Anthony/Tony) and the late Jim Schurfranz is Emma and Willie's grandfather and the father of Tom and Tony. I think I have that right, but not sure.

I think the issue with the NIT is whether it is going to be played at all.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
I see BU was able to finalize the "Fan Appreciation" weekend by getting free parking for all to Freedom Hall for the Liberty games. I know that Scotty has been talking about it for awhile now. I hope they get a big crowd, approaching the Covid limitations. I think they need to get some transportation set up for the students. Barely see any at the games so far this year. Will be better if the Knights can take care of business first this weekend, setting up the battle for regular season conference champs.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
Especially lately, I've seen a good bit of national coverage, at least in passing, of BU's success this season.
For example:
https://bustingbrackets.com/2021/02/17/n...questions/
You can't buy this kind of publicity, which is what the D-I move was all about; the Knights didn't get nearly this coverage when they won the D-II title.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
It seems to me, based on a few of their social media posts and articles, that at least someone in the BU staff as well as at the Courier-Journal will look at this board (as well as the old D-II one we haunted).
True to form, here's a new C-J piece on the NIT and CBI possibilities that we recently discussed:
https://www.courier-journal.com/story/sp...510172001/
I'm surprised more Knight fans aren't talking about the NIT -- that would be a big deal for the program.

Just finished watching Scotty’s weekly TV Show. A few takeaways:
The team has been able to practice all week and are down only 1 player due to quarantine, latest tests all negative and may be back to full strength by Wed.
CJ and Ethan will be honored this weekend on Senior day. He didn’t rule out that they would return but said they had a plan and it will be announced at a later date
There will be an announcement by the ASUN today, Monday regarding this week’s game(s) vs Liberty. There may be only 1 game or possibly 2; to be played sometime between Thursday and Sunday. Liberty plays two games Mon and Tue at home vs No Alabama. That would be a short turnaround for them. I know there is a conflict at Freedom Hall on Friday, but I don’t know if that is why there is uncertainty about playing 1 or 2 games.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
How much are tickets and where can I get them? I’m recruiting hard for a big block of friends and family go to the game and cheer on the Flames. Thinkin’ about drivin’ in from Missouri myself.

BU fans, send this guy on a "wild goose chase" for tickets, so we minimize the number of LU fans in the building.
Before he blows a gasket and throws out emojis or hashtags -- I'm kidding.
That's good news about the game. Get that NIT bid, Knights!
