Interesting that, in the WDRB article, Scotty indicates there's an open date which he's hoping to fill with another Power 5 opponent.

I have no idea of what to expect of the ASUN conference games. Any attempt at predicting won/loss there to me is a total crapshoot. I think we can be competitive however. 5 - 8 on noncoference games would be good.

Wow, I know you guys are trying to reduce expectations, but I am much more optimistic than are you. I think every game other than Duke, Gonzaga, Miss. St. are winable. It really is not ridiculous to think that we could win all our home games (although if there are no fans, Im not sure there will be a big home court advantage) I think road games against Liberty, Stetson, and Lipscomb will be very tough. No reason we can't split with Tenn-Chat. I think there are 29 games on the schedule right now, I think we can go 20-9 and I would be disappointed in anything worse than 18-11.

Been meaning to post this fairly recent, brief Scotty interview -- in it, he reiterates that Bellarmine is immediately eligible for the NIT, in addition to the ASUN title, CBI, and CIT.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
I noticed that Verbal Commits now lists Zac Jennings and Eli Roberts as walk ons. Justin Betz is now listed as a scholarship player and former walk on. That means that all 12 scholarships are accounted for. It also means that transfer Sam Devault is the only new scholarship player.

I heard Scotty touting commit Ben Johnson (Lexington Catholic) in an interview. He looks to be a very talented offensive player who may even have the handle for the 1 spot. I wonder about his quickness, he does not yet have a college basketball body. It'll be interesting to see if he gets much traction for Mr. Basketball in Kentucky.

So following a somewhat disappointing (for BU at least) D2 season you lose your two "go to" senior big guys and only add one scholarship player and then you up the ante to a D1 schedule with the players you have. My conclusion is that if BU has a decent year with a reasonably good won/loss result, it gives added proof that there is not much of a talent discrepancy between to top teams in D2 and the lower teams in D1.

Yes, I have to believe that recruiting did not go as planned. Not sure if covid had an impact or what. Devault better be pretty good or Baylor Yonker needs to take a leap forward for this team to be good. I do expect Bradshaw and Penn to up their play and pick up the scoring. Claycomb picked up his play considerable at the end of last season. I also think that BU will benefit from playing a bunch of teams that have never played them.

I had the same thought about playing teams that haven't seen BU's offense. It could play to our advantage. The GLVC coaches got to be very familiar with Scotty's motion offense despite the BU coaches trying to add new wrinkles. The good coaches often found a way to gum up the half court game of BU last year.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
New NCAA rules/guidance announced yesterday. Looks like no games before Thanksgiving and max number of games dropped from 31 to 25. BU along with other schools will have to start editing their schedules. BU had 31 games scheduled (one was an exhibition however) and if you simply eliminate the games before Nov 25 that gives you 25 games. Unfortunately that would drop off some of the interesting games against UCLA, Duke and Miss. State. I hope they can hold the Thanksgiving weekend round robin in Birmingham (3 games). I was thinking of driving down I65 catching those 3 games. Practices to start Oct. 14 with individual conditioning and individual skill development can start next week on campus. I guess we'll wait and see what kind of crowds are available with the COVID restrictions. Maybe I won't be making that trip to Birmingham if they severely restrict the crowd.
Today is the feast day of St. Robert Bellarmine. Best wishes to all the Knight fans out there!!

I guess this is good news. At least they intend to play this year. I am guessing that it will be without fans. Not sure where that leaves season ticket sales. Hoping for a vaccine to save 2021 and allow fans in the post season.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
The more I think of the potential COVID restrictions the more pessimistic I am about games at Knights Hall. If U of L football with an outdoor 60,000 seat stadium only allows 20% capacity, then what does that mean for an indoor arena that seats 2,000? What 400 seats or less I imagine since its indoor? Sounds to me like families of the players and no one else.

This is interesting. I wonder if Bellarmine will try to get in on that action.

The impression I get is that, their lip service aside, the folks over at U of L are not so keen to play BU now that they're not the only D-I program in the city.

Nothing ground-breaking here, but a nice, little "feel good" update by WLKY on the program:

Saw where the BU women will play the U. of Louisville at the "chicken arena," but haven't heard anything else about a possible "bubble" setup on the men's side.

I am just speculating but..... BU still has their orininal schedule up. It seems that the preconference schedule is still completely up in the air. Games cannot start until Nov. 25, so any of the games on the schedule prior to that are not going to happen (at least not on those dates) The max amount of games allowed is now 27, down from 31. Bellarmine had 30 scheduled, so 3 of the games will definitely not happen. BU has the Samford invitational listed for 3 games on Nov. 27,28,29. Looking at the Samford schedule, they are not listing any games for that period, so it looks like that is off. It would be possible for Bellarmine to get in on whatever "bubble" UofL is trying to put together, or maybe Scotty is working on his own bubble. Sure would like to be able to save that Duke game. In any case, minus a quickly distributed vaccine, all the games are likely not open to the public. Hard to believe that minus covid, the season would be starting in two weeks.

It's a long shot, but the "other" program in town is playing in a bubble-type event in Connecticut, and I wonder if Scotty & Co. are trying to get BU invited.

New schedule up--still got Duke and Gonzaga! Two of the greatest losses the program can get. Only 22 games on there so wondering if they are still trying for a bubble tourney with Duke game being the first on the schedule and not until Dec 4th

Changed the conference play as well. Now playing each team back to back at the same locale. Definitely cutting down on the travel. Still have Morgan St, Miami(OH) and Middle TN. Only real cupcake is Mt. St. Joseph's.

I am looking online at the BU website and I only see 20 games. No games against Gonzaga or Miami (OH) listed there either. Maybe this was a preliminary schedule??
