That rebounding. Ugh.

As happens every year when the Bellarmine basketball season ends, yours now officially considers it baseball season (while keeping a close eye on the Knights' recruiting efforts).

What a great first D-I season, though. The future is very bright for BU.

I have it from a reliable source that BU has accepted a berth in the CBI in Daytona Beach. Official announcement will be this coming a Sunday but Kent Taylor may announce on WAVE local sports broadcast as early as tonight.

Sweet! Used to not care about that tourney, but, for a first-year D-I program, this is quite exciting. Hope it comes to pass.

Hard to think there are many others who have done the job he did this season.

CBI Bracket will be announced on Tuesday, presumably because of the possibility that NCAA and NIT teams may be replaced if they pull out before Tuesday night due to CoVid.

Somewhat surprisingly, an announcement already:

Nice field. BU takes on Army in a week.

Yours truly also picks the Knights over the Black Knights, although I am more than a little biased.

Woo-hoo! 1-0 in D-I post-season play.

That second half was something. Anyone spring for a subscription to watch the game?

Yes, I did. A one month subscription I will cancel after the CBI was only $12.50.

Hope Pedro can play with more patience tonight. When he plays like he did the first half, he forces shots, makes bad decisions and takes the flow out of the offense. He has a lot of talent and tries to put the whole game on his back.

That said, the second half reminded me of the first Stetson game coming from behind. It was a lot of fun to watch that second half.

Welp, things were looking good, but the shots stopped falling.

What a first D-I season, though. The future is extremely bright for BU hoops.

Sounds like Claycomb and Fleming are "in" for next season:

Thelen should be okay without surgery:

Disappointing end, but a great season that exceeded everyone’s expectations.

I’m glad to hear Thelan’s injury is not severe. He will need to show a lot of improvement IMO to keep his starting role next season. It’s hard for me to imagine that Ben Johnson does not start as a freshman.

Congratulations on your first season in Division 1. You guys seem to have made the transition successfully.

I had the pleasure of playing for Scotty when he coached JV ball at Ahrens High School in Louisville. That was 1978. Scotty drove a Mercury Montego and hauled most of the team around in it...lol

Wishing your Knights continued success. Hope to see y’all in the big dance next season.

Thanks! Great story -- was Coach D as intense back in your JV days?

Would love to see the NCAA muckety-mucks cut the Big Dance™ D-I transition waiting period from four seasons to, say, two; but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

RE: 2020-2021 Season
It was a great season for the Knights. Bradshaw and Claycomb greatly exceeded my expectations for them.

Wait until next year! Everybody back. That may be more of problem than a plus, however. I think the Pepperdine game showed that BU really needs to upgrade its talent level. Dylan Penn is the only person on the team with high D1 athletic ability. Obviously length and quickness are lacking. In the long run, we might be better off if Claycomb and Fleming did not return and some younger guys i.e. Hopf and Johnson got more playing time, and if possible, sign some additional recruits.

As it currently stands, Bellarmine will be hard pressed to repeat its success from this season.

At the ASUN level it was quickness and three point shooting that caused us problems, although Liberty's bigger guys caused trouble too. At the level of Pepperdine and higher mid major teams, size and lack of rebounding will be a bigger problem. Its no secret that while watching NCAA March Madness its obvious that the 3 point shot is the major weapon now. Teams tend to spread the floor and drive for the basket to get a layup or dunk but kick it out for the 3 if they're cutoff. Teams don't rely on one 3 point shooter, nearly everyone will jack it up if you leave them wide open.
