Even though it's a in a dying sport with a diminishing return, it's still a great investment opportunity for a team in a major market. Smart move.

NFL TE isn't one of the most lucrative positions in sport even for an all pro. Even if he emptied his bank account he would still be a very small minority owner of a billion dollar business. Sports franchises have traditionally gained value faster than the overall economy so it's a good investment but his involvement is most likely to add prestige to the bid by attaching the names of current star athletes.

J-Lo will most certainly be calling the shots.

Soon the Mets will have bare midriff jerseys and floral pattern pants.

And perform at the Super Bowl half time show.

Youth baseball participation is up 5% in the last 2 years, more than any other sport except Rugby.

https://blog.leagueapps.com/baseball-and...-the-rise/

MLB is the 2nd highest revenue sports league in the world, still dwarfing #3 (NBA) and #4 (English Premiere League).

MLB tv ratings were up in 2019 on all three national broadcast networks, and MLB's regional networks ranked No. 1 in primetime cable in 24 of the 25 MLB markets in the USA. Also, MLB is the most aggressive pro league in moving into digital broadcasts.

You sound like the guy who didn't want to invest in a rifle factory just because the tank was invented.

In fact, the sport I'd avoid as an investor is football. Youth participation is down 6% in the last 2 years alone. 6-12 year old participation is down 30% over the last 10 years. Even high school football participation is down 10% over the last 10 years. And NFL TV ratings are still down 10% since its 2015 peak as the league has gotten embroiled in controversy after controversy.

And they’ll do a cardboard cutout of her in the locker room ala Major League for “inspiration”.

Yeah, football is on the way down, but they're so high up on that mountaintop that a decline likely won't matter.

And I'm just a guy who can't watch people stand around for 4 hours a night...never been a fan of baseball, even while I was forced to play it. People are agreeing, as attendance has fallen by 2% each of the last 4 years and has declined in 8 of the last 9. The thing about the local media deals is that they're for **** pay, and with attendance going down, they're not recouping the losses...part of why the dispute between players and owners in baseball was FAR more contentious than any other sport.

More to my original point though...as far as a professional sports team is concerned, an MLB team is probably the 3rd or 4th best sports team investment behind NFL and NBA at least.

Free agency wrecked MLB...the talent was more spread out prior to Free agency...also, no salary cap. Salary cap is a major reason why the NBA still functions.

It's probably an LLC with a ton of limited partners. Cheap way to raise money.

Thought I'd plop this here. So, TK signs a four year, $57 million contract extension with the Chiefs. So happy for him. What a testimony to his character with what he plans to do with some of his well-earned money...
