Well, these games do happen, so they must be worth it financially to some teams.
Clemson is playing a neutral-site game vs Georgia in 2021. That must mean the Clemson honchos decided there was more value in playing that game than playing a home FCS game.

We are playing UGA next year because the ACC once again screwed us over by scheduling us for three games against the parasites in four years. @ ND 2020, @ ND 2022, and home 2023. We were unable to find a second P5 OOC opponent who was willing to wait until 2024 at the earliest for a return game so we had an OOC for next year that was going to be SC State, UConn, Wyoming, and @ South Carolina. When the opportunity came up to play UGA we dumped Wyoming and made it, but with a $4 million payday https://fbschedules.com/georgia-clemson-...charlotte/
Clemson is losing at least $3 million on the deal with the loss of the 7th home game.

Y’all will probably get a good crowd for that one because UGA travels too, but man those Charlotte games have historically been terrible. I think there was about 40k tops for all of the games we’ve played there. We have one more, in 2023 against UNC, and I pray that’s the last one
