I don’t think so. One 16 team super conf leaves too much inventory on the table and 16 teams doesn’t allow for the ups and downs as college teams develop.

It may not be 80 teams but they will standardize the numbers in each league, the number of league games required and number of non-super conference teams you can play. Even Bama, Clemson and Ohio State have had bad years, super coaches don’t last forever and the public loves some underdogs.

Yeah I don't think it shrinks from the P5 is this happens.

Many college fans have a rooting interest in a team whether that is due to locality or being an alumni...If you shrink the fanbase too much the big teams will not have as many eyes on them
