3. Let them keep it as a donation which now might be deductible as you are getting no ticket consideration.

I with go with #3 as UC needs the money.

#4. I’m in no position to just give them a donation because they need it. I’ll pay them when a season takes place.

I haven't been this excited/hopeful for a UC football season since post-Rutgers game in 2009.

Saw this in another forum on this board with respect to Memphis’ plan for this upcoming season. I suspect UC will do something similar. I wonder at this point whether we would just consider playing a schedule that is regional this year on FB, as opposed to a conference slate. Given the B10 and ACC are not options, it would likely include MAC schools, Western KY, Marshall, maybe a MTSU, etc.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Athletics has identified difficult cost reduction measures in anticipation of revenue impacts associated with the COVID-19 global pandemic. While the full realization of those impacts remains uncertain, at a minimum, it is clear that social distancing requirements will have a significant impact on ticket sales capacity and Tiger Scholarship Fund revenues, among other projected losses.

Impacts will be felt across the department, including more regionalized non-conference scheduling for many sports - in an effort to significantly reduce travel costs.

In addition, Veatch announced that he and a number of Athletics Department employees are making voluntary philanthropic contributions to the Tiger Scholarship Fund to help during this unprecedented time. While Veatch and his wife, Brandy, have elected to donate 10% of his salary for the next six months, he recently asked others in the Tiger Athletics Department family to consider doing what they can. The early returns are encouraging.

"I have been so humbled and inspired by the initial response we have received, including the immediate leadership demonstrated by head coaches Penny Hardaway, Ryan Silverfield and Melissa McFerrin, who will collectively be giving back nearly $200,000 to Memphis Athletics," said Veatch.

Significant efforts have been made to maintain the student-athlete experience, including an additional investment of more than $300,000 in scholarships for 23 returning seniors who had their spring competitive seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"While some universities across the country are finding it necessary to take drastic measures such as eliminating entire sports programs, I am proud of the staff for finding cost reductions and making the sacrifices necessary that give us the best opportunity to emerge from this crisis in a stronger and healthier position. I want to thank the University of Memphis administration and the Memphis Tigers community for their unwavering support during this difficult time," said Veatch.

If we don't play in 2020 does Evan Prater get a chance to start in 2021?

Maybe a hybrid proposal that's a mix of 2 and 3 above. Donate some of this year's payment and the balance remaining is the deposit for 2021. People like to have choices and if season ticket holders could determine that allocation based upon their own balancing of personal budgeting and a desire to give, it might actually generate more giving.

5. I'll still get to watch the Cats go undefeated in Spring 2021.
6. I'll still get to watch the Reds win the Central in 2020.
7. I'll have more time to spend on Saturdays.
8. I'll take up a new hobby or learn a new language.
9. Maybe it's time to start up the herb garden.
10. Need to finish staining my deck.

Schools need to play this fall or next spring to move the Seniors out. The NCAA could up the scholarship limits but schools that are cash strapped cannot afford added scholarship costs.

Does a cancelled season ensure Fickell will remain at UC for 5 years??

To me it seems like the easiest option is just to move it to spring with the NCAA stating that week one is for instance February 7th for everyone. You could otherwise keep schedules the same and hopefully we have some control over this thing 7/8 months from now.

FWIW Memphis board is saying they have heard from coaches the AAC will play an in conference schedule only this year (without UConn that is 9 games).

We have 11, so wouldn't it be 10? Or are we not expecting Navy to be a part of that?

I do think doing only conference schedules makes a lot of sense. It drastically minimizes contact among FBS schools, and allows the conferences to control the testing and safety protocols. It also shortens the season a bit, which will allow the schedules to have more bye weeks. The reason that matters is that if the season does go on, I guarantee there are going to be games that need to be rescheduled due to multiple COVID cases on teams and the need to quarantine.

The Navy v Lafayette game was cancelled, which leaves Army, AF and ND. If the AAC goes to 10 and if Navy needs to play 12 they need to cancel ND. If they refuse to play 10 AAC they need to be kicked out.

It’s hard to say how a year off will affect all players. Will they be able to Fully Practice? Drills? Workout? Anything? It’s hard to say how players will progress in this type of environment, especially since we don’t know what the actual environment will look like.
