Blake James said UM's 1 non conference game will be UAB, Wagner or Temple. I asked if UAB is preference because geographically closest; he said not necessarily.

They can always call off the OOC games if things get worse and still preserve a conference-only schedule. They could even skip the 1st 2 conference games and play an 8-game schedule if things get progressively worse still.

But will Miami's OOC game be against UAB(previously scheduled for Sept 17-outside of the ACC OOC game window) or some other P5 school? Or will UAB be the game with UAB moving up to replacing Temple or Wagner in place of the Alabama A&M game previously scheduled for Sept 12?

The release says 10 conference games + 1 non-conference game starting September 7-12, not that all non-conference games would be played within that window.

RE: UAB/Miami Football game OFF
I’m confused. So, if we don’t replace AAMU and NMSU, our first game wouldn’t be until that week or is the Miami game being moved up to replace the AAMU/NMSU?

This is a sh*tshow

Might be hard to get a 10-game conference schedule with a bye week if conference games don't start on Sept 19...

RE: UAB/Miami Football game OFF
UAB should call UCF to get a game for week 0. Play at UCF this year and in the new stadium when it fits. Such as 9/2/2023.

All 4 of the yearly ACC-SEC games are played the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I wouldn't expect that to change.

UAB is working on trying to find at least 1 game to take the place of Al State/New Mex St. That's all I can say about it at the moment.

UAB/Miami Football game OFF
When is the logical deadline to set FB schedules? I assume, and this may be incorrect, that conferences are keeping their schedules set in stone, but for OOC games there are rooms to rent, travel to plan, (maybe) tickets to sell, etc. plus, the coaches have to plan their advance scouting especially for Game #1. I would have actually guessed the deadline to be Aug 1st but seems I would be mistaken.

Who said NM State was cancelled?

I believe the NM governor is really pushing for NMSU and UNM to cancel their seasons.

She recommended, but the FBS schools seem to be forging ahead:

Quote:All of this, meanwhile, is in the context of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham recommending last week in a letter to the leadership of the state’s public universities that no contact sports be played in the fall.

Quote:The University of New Mexico football team is finalizing a change in its schedule, moving its Aug. 29 home game against Idaho State to Sept. 19, UNM athletic director Eddie Nuñez said on Wednesday.

Nuñez said UNM may open the season on Aug. 29 anyway, possibly at rival New Mexico State.

Well, I’m glad they are playing “Alabama Birmingham” so we know we have an opening that weekend.

I don't see any confirmation from another source. I wouldn't be shocked if that's the direction they want to take - the new schedule the ACC drew up is a nightmare for them - but would like to see a media release.

Yeah. Would make sense to play a FCS team if other ACC teams play "similar" opponents.
