Every game played is probably going to be a net loss in money.

May not be as bad for UAB as some others due to the size of Legion Field. Most reports I have heard are fans at 20-25% capacity. With LF having a capacity of 72,000 that would mean UAB could allow 14,000 - 18,000 fans. With many staying away due to COVID-19 this may be adequate.

Lol I had plans to go to the UAB/UM game Thursday and then the Dolphins home opener that Sunday. So much for that.

Notre Dame and BYU need games. Just sayin...…

BYU has lost 4 AWAY games. Maybe you could get them to Birmingham.

If Miami cancels, then BYU and UAB are both open.

First, ND doesn't need games....just sayin'.

Second, this will be a non issue in about 2 weeks when the football season is postponed.

And here's your dessert, the NFL will cancel their season by August 17th.

This. I’m just coming out of denial stage and needed to admit it out loud.

There are a lot of moving parts that I don't think the boys from Texas to Georgia and everyone in between are thinking about. Its about health and money, but there is a huge legal liability issue as well. Whether certain other leagues can also start is irrelevant to the situation in the US and in college sports.

The #1 priority for (most) university presidents is not whether they can play football this year.

Of course. I was just referring to the sport.

I can wait until all can be safe. UAB fans should be like the Doomsday Preppers of college sports fans. Miss a season? BFD.

Is this game officially off? I see where the OOC games are still being played...but possibly only against other P5 teams and possibly only 1 game.

The ACC hasn't made a decision yet regarding their scheduling.

Sources: The ACC is discussing scheduling models, with 10 league games and a "plus one" outside the conference as the favorite. The ACC start date is still being debated between September 12, 19 and 26.

From what I've been reading among the P5 if OOC games are permitted all teams in the conference will schedule the same "level" of OOC opponent: all P5, all G5, or all FCS. In addition, the NCAA is allowing 2 FCS games to count rather than the normal single FCS game.

ACC will play 10 ACC games + 1 nonconference game, 1st games b/w Sept. 7-12, one division, Notre Dame will also play a 10-game ACC schedule & be eligible for 2020 ACC Title Game, all TV revenue for 2020 season, including ND homes, shared equally by all 15 schools

But will Miami's OOC game be against UAB(previously scheduled for Sept 17-outside of the ACC OOC game window) or some other P5 school? Or will UAB be the game with UAB moving up to replacing Temple or Wagner in place of the Alabama A&M game previously scheduled for Sept 12?

That game being moved to game 1 is what it sounds like.

From Brandon Marcello
You're probably gonna see several non-conference games in Week 1 of #ACC schedule. #Miami and #UAB a possibility on Sept. 12, I'm told.

...ACC also says each team will pick its one nonconference opponent & that game must be played in the home state of that ACC team

...Based on ACC’s nonconference requirement (must be in held school’s home state), these games can not be played:

Virginia vs. Georgia, UNC vs. Auburn & FSU vs. West Virginia (all in Atlanta)
Notre Dame at Navy
UNC at UCF
Va Tech at MTSU
Pitt at Marshall
Wake Forest at ODU
BC at KU
FSU at Boise State

I fail to see how this plan in any way reflects a concern for the Wuhan. I mean, they're playing one less game than normal. You're still travelling. What is the appreciable difference between this plan, and playing the season as originally scheduled???

This is now just a sample season for them to try out less nonconference games for the eventual P5 split from the rest of the FBS.

You know it to be true and this isn’t about the virus in relation to CFB from those in charge.

Likely already the beginning of the end for FCS/FBS matchups. We’ll see, I hope not.
