Wow, a big domino just fell. Contrary to what I've believed until now the college football season may be about to unravel.

Maybe coincidence but the Ivy League's no fall sports announcement yesterday may be the domino that starts the rest to fall. Time will tell...

Conference realignment potentially of another kind. Fuggin' virus brings college sports to its collective knees. We ain't seen the end of the financial impacts I'm tellin' you what...

I wonder if the home game just becomes a game at Nebraska with a nice Red and White Check stapled to it.

RE: Big 10
At this point, they need to just push everything back one year in terms of non-conference games and go with a completely regional setup. In terms of TV deals, just treat all games like non-conference games where the home team's TV deal affects which network the game is televised. Do a 10-game season with no bye, take one week off, and play the CFP and major bowl games only. Would minimize risk, allow for better control in terms of testing and containment, and would get the regular season over before flu season kicks in. If they try to go all in with the normal schedule and traveling, the season is not going to happen or will be doomed a few weeks in.

RE: Big 10
I mean, this is gonna reverberate to all leagues right? Does it reach a point where they blow it up completely and try to go even more regional than conferences could provide? Or would they just skip right to the jump and cancel outright?

Here we go again. Let the mass hysteria begin!

What? Are only B1G fans clean enough to have games with?

Perhaps. UC was getting $400k for this trip and was due to pay Nebraska the same in 2025 for the game here.

I could see this turning into one off buy game. No way Nebraska is playing a road game here for not much $$ without a return game.

BTW, the 400k would have been UC’s biggest single payday for a game this year. Doesn’t sound like much but that hurts the budget a bit.

How much are we paying the rest of our OOC to come to Nippert? I'd assume they'll get the axe eventually too.

Idk- Miami and Western are the closest teams to us geographically (Austin Peay too I guess). If there would be a cancellation you’d think it would be someone 800 miles away.

Per Justin Williams, there is a $1.5M buyout if Nebraska screws with our 2025 game.

You’d have to modify every single existing contract and everyone would have to agree. So not that likely.

The sad reality is that the CFB model inherently prevents schools from employing many of the same practices the professional leagues are jumping through hoops to do right now. Coronavirus tests alone are costing Athletic Departments thousands and it's not even the season yet.

A lot of costs related to the programs that are continuing - coaches' and support staff salaries and debt on facilities are two big ones; and I am sure the list goes on.
