It could have happened regularly if Syracuse, BC, and Pitt didn't c-block us from the ACC. They were myopic and didn't see that having another nearby rival would actually help them (as well us). Those schools didn't want the extra local recruiting competition and thought that they could put a dagger in our athletic department (and us no longer being a "P5" school in the northeast where there are no good local football recruits has crippled our football program to be sure). However, I like that UConn wasn't going to let men's basketball die on the vine without a fight. The Big East move makes UConn (along with Villanova) probably the most desirable schools for NYC recruits. Now we get to wait until Boeheim is gone and attempt to bury Syracuse basketball. It doesn't look like it will be all that difficult to achieve.

Cuse recruits anywhere they want. Africa, Canada, Europe and the whole USA

Playing in front of 35,000 fans helps.

You'd think with all this support, Cuse would have more than one Natty.

They had two Helms back in the day.

Bad misfortune in several recent runs with great teams...yes they really should have a couple. It sucks but at least they won one.
It actually feels like they have more than one, to be honest. Like Michigan State, a regular in the NCAA's.

All major basketball schools, including UConn, recruit globally.

35,000 is impressive (that is a cool pic), but I stick by my statement that Syracuse will have a harder time recruiting in the ACC than the tobacco road schools based on geography. No league opponents other than a lackluster BC are easily driveable for the Orange. And Siberacuse in winter? Thanks but no thanks.

And yet you still couldn't get into a Power Conference

Well at least you beat us in 6 OTs...oh wait. 04-cheers

Right? Cuse can have that 6OT game. I will take the 4>1 natties.

I really won't mind that we aren't in a power conference if men's basketball becomes a major player again (which they are poised to do). When it boils down to it, UConn and Syracuse are both never competing for a national title in football. The money must be nice, but I will take playing for titles in basketball and mining NYC for future recruits versus watching my team play in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl and having my basketball ball team fizzle out the way that the Orange usually do.
04-cheers

Speaking of UConn football ........

You can lose to UConn football, providing them their only AAC win of the year, get fired after the season .... AND STILL rise to become a US Senator!

That person I'm talking about is Tommy Tuberville (2016 Cincinnati Beacats coach).

I hear you...I still miss the Old Big East. The '05-'13 version was really good also.

However, receiving an extra $25-30M a year in TV money is a game changer for a private university like SU. They don't throw the burden on the taxpayers or the parents/students themselves with onerous athletic fees.

I wonder how many Bama fans will swallow their pride and vote for him over the Dem?

Admittedly, it would be nice to still have Syracuse in the Big East for basketball. That would make it 7 of the original 9 traditional Big East schools. We only really miss Syracuse in the new league. BC isn't missed since they don't offer anything and were never any good at basketball. Pitt is only sort of missed since Xavier, Marquette, Creighton, or Butler each add about as much on court value and arguably have more passionate basketball fans than Pitt. Notre Dame and WVU never really felt "true" Big East (even before realignment took off in 2004 it seemed like they both would have been happier somewhere else) and Louisville and Cincinnati were only in the old Big East for a mere 8 years, so they also felt like they were just passing through (although UConn has personally played Cincy for 15 years, so I will miss them).

If Syracuse basketball ever starts declining in the ACC or your basketball fans miss MSG magic, we would welcome you back (not that you guys would ever give up that fat paycheck). The hate that UConn and Syracuse have for each other is a thing of beauty that should be continue to be cultivated like a rare flower.

We will kiss once we play again. We just want Syracuse to wear that ball in the mouth thingy for us while we have fun.
