Thought there would be some sort of response, but what can be said? That's rather positive, isn't it?

Deaths are down twenty five percent from yesterday. Even at the worst this week only thirty five percent of the highs in April.

Yes it is. Great for the kids. This is very hard on children.

A thread to share positive news about Covid-19 Rx and vaccine developments
DALLAS - Baylor Scott & White is reporting some good news about treatment for COVID-19 patients.
The hospital released some results of a study on the use of Remdesivir.

Baylor Scott & White Health is one of 180 hospitals participating in a worldwide Gilead Sciences study of its antiviral drug Remdesivir to treat people who are severely hospitalized with COVID-19.

“What’s a patient come to a hospital for? They want to live longer, they want to live better, and they want to get better,” said Dr. Robert Gottlieb, who is a cardiologist at Baylor Scott & White.

And hospital officials said the results show Remdesivir is doing just that, consistently shortening recovery time and saving lives.
“And now we have shown that there’s a very strong suggestion of survival benefit,” Gottlieb said. “And that Remdesivir decreased your odds of passing away from COVID-19 by about 62 percent.”
Dr. Gottlieb said Remdesivir is challenging to make, there’s a limited supply, and it takes time to ramp up production.
It’s not the best of news during a pandemic, but he added that studies show patients need only half the dose of what was originally thought.
“Does five days of Remdesivir verses 10 days of Remdesivir make a difference or are they both helpful?” Dr. Gottlieb said. “We showed that five days was as good as 10 days.”
Which means you can treat nearly twice as many patients with the same supply.
The study did not take into account patients on breathing tubes or ventilators, but Baylor officials said the findings certainly provide hope.
“Because now we know that we have therapies that we can offer that can help our patients,” Dr. Gottlieb added.

"....drugmakers have set speed records in devising vaccines and beginning clinical trials. FasterCures, which is part of the Milken Institute think tank, is tracking 179 vaccine candidates, most of which are still being tested in lab dishes and animals. But nearly 20 have already begun testing in people."

"Some experts predict that a vaccine may be available for emergency use for the general public by the end of the year even before it receives expedited U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval."

Researchers have built a “catch and kill” air filter that can trap particles of the coronavirus and kill it instantly, according to the University of Houston.

Honestly, this sounds like a scam. Sort of like the people that believe in carbon capture. Filtering carbon out of the air and injecting it underground.03-banghead

What would be different about this filter system than currently available IR filtration available & in use in HVAC duct systems ( like i-wave)?

Some other good news, the increase in cases over the last several weeks is not being tracked by a similar increase in deaths. Deaths are still continuing to decrease as a percentage of cases.

ItFL has been overstating new cases by 90% and several other states erroneously overstating by combining infections with antibody blood tests. The good news being the error has been caught.

The article states the vaccine activates both antibodies and T-Cell to provide "double protection".

Encouraging early results from clinical trials have raised hopes for an effective coronavirus vaccine.

Studies in the US and UK suggest several experimental vaccines produce a good immune response in volunteers without serious side-effects.

Nearly two dozen coronavirus vaccines are in clinical trials while another 140 are in early development.

But some scientists are calling for volunteers to be exposed to the virus to accelerate research.

Nobel laureates are among those who say it would make it easier to see if those who had received a vaccine were protected.......

A heavy news day on the vaccine front. Pfizer, CanSino, and Oxford all published their Phase 2 results today. All vaccines were shown to raise both antibody and T-cell responses to levels seen in convalescent serum. So phase 3 trials, the ones with lots of folks (for safety in large groups) and actual testing against the virus itself, are next.

Looking good for a vaccine late this year or early next. It will take quite a while to have enough to do what needs to be done world wide. Need to do Medical personnel, first responders, and the elderly who are not politicians first..

A thread to share positive news about Covid-19 Rx and vaccine developments
The feds placed a $2 billion order for 100 million doses of Pfizer’s potential coronavirus vaccine under the Trump administration’s push to have a shot ready by next year.
Americans would receive Pfizer’s shots for free under the deal announced Wednesday — assuming the vaccine it’s developing with the German biotech firm BioNTech wins federal approval.
“We’ve been committed to making the impossible possible by working tirelessly to develop and produce in record time a safe and effective vaccine to help bring an end to this global health crisis,” Dr. Albert Boula, Pfizer’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
The pact is the largest yet awarded under Operation Warp Speed, the government’s effort to deliver 300 million doses of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine by January. The Trump administration has committed billions of dollars in federal funding to four other companies racing to produce a vaccine, which is viewed as key to ending the deadly global pandemic.

Interesting update from Dr Birx. To me, her answer to the question of antibodies and reinfection (10:20) was new and positive information.

Know someone high-risk (compromised immune system) in 60s who got the vid and was given hydrochloroquin early and had no issues recovering at home.
