We paid extra for that game, people will now complain it is not included as part of their season tickets.

I can hear the bitching already.....

Although I am not sure if they will be able to do it (and it's mostly out of their control), but I'm sure Athletics will try to get the season in to save them from refunding ticket and benefits costs or carry them forward to next year. If the season does get cancelled, I would gladly accept using my payment for next year.

This is great! Seems like a long while since we've had six actual home games. I'd pay more to see this game played at HS than at a soccer stadium.

Really? You thinking the complaining will stop? I'm not so sure.

I'm glad with either stadium.

I'll be pleased to see them play anywhere except from my living room. (That would mean covid is alive and waving again.)

Don't worry. You'll get all of your money back when they decide they are either 1) not allowing any fans into the stadium or 2) canceling the season.

No need to get worked up when this was just announced today.

This is great news, although I was all in either way. My fave spot in the world is Huskie Stadium on game day. Just hard to envision we will be having these games right now, but fingers crossed.

RE: BYU game moved to huskie stadium
This is great news, and great that we have 6 actual HS home games! That is of course if we have any games at all.

The reason: “Due to restrictive stadium capacity limits and safety measures set in place by the state of Illinois during the COVID-19 pandemic, NIU and City of Bridgeview officials agreed to move the game out of SeatGeek Stadium.”

Since SeatGeek stadium capacity is approximately 4,000 more than HS capacity, I don’t see how it is any different. No matter; I am very happy and keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed there is NIU Huskies football this season!

GI HUSKIES!!!!!!

In related news, the Ivy League has become the first DI conference to cancel all fall sports.

As I recall, when the Ivy League canceled the men's and women's basketball tournaments (on March 10), it was the first conference do do so, and other conferences soon followed suit. One has to be concerned the same thing will happen.

The Ivy League just seems less beholden to sports and less likely to hold out wishing and hoping. So, they make an easy decision, which is interpreted by the rest of the country as a tough decision.

Nope. SeatGeek has a capacity Of just 20,000 for sports. HS around 25G.

That is correct. 20,000 for football/soccer. 28,000 with seating on the field for concerts.

I guarantee the move had more to do with the game being in dekalb county versus cook county, more than it had to do with it being a stadium capacity thing. I’m sure regulations will be less strict out in dekalb.

Can it also be a function of lower expected turnout vs costs? I'd assume the soccer field is not free and I can forecast BYU will not be traveling as heavily pre-covid. So less gate/parking/concessions means less game profit or even a loss.

Currently the state is on the same stage to recovery, so there is no difference between locations. Perhaps later that could change. Let's hope not.
