NIU was going to pay $200k or $300k to rent the stadium. Why pay that for a venue when you can only fill it to 25% capacity and you have a free stadium in DeKalb.

This game may not even be played now. This video that Sean Frazier did yesterday leads me to believe fall sports are not going to happen.

Say what you want when you have no responsibility, but when you're running the program you have no other choice. It's not like NIU is on an island making these decisions by themselves while everyone else is moving forward.

This might be death of college athletics. How can you collect student fees without offering anything.

Agree. This more than one-time (hopefully) lost payouts from cancelled FB games will hit hard if it ever catches on as an issue. No one likes to sound the alarm, but NIU students contribute about 30-35% of the athletic department income, according to a whole bunch of studies on the fee issue nationwide (There are links on various threads but I'm too lazy to dig them out).

I think it will be duck-and-cover on this subject for the most part. I believe the athletic fee is lumped in with general fees so it isn't detailed itself.
