According to WTOL, Douglas was shot outside of a pizza restaurant in Toledo around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Police told WTOL there was a fight outside of the restaurant between two men. Douglas was transported to the hospital, where he later died. No arrests have been made.

“We were all shocked to learn of the tragic death of Jahneil Douglas,” Toledo athletic director Mike O’Brien said. “This is a devastating loss for our football team and our University, and a very sad day for all of us in Rocket Nation. Our deepest condolences go out to Jahneil’s family and friends.”

Rockets head coach Jason Candle described Douglas as a “hard-working young man who was loved by his teammates and coaches.”

“The Toledo Football family is heartbroken by the loss of Jahneil,” Candle said. “He was a hard-working young man who was loved by all his teammates and coaches. Our sincerest condolences go out to Jahneil’s family and friends during these difficult times. Jahneil will forever be a part of the Rocket Football family.”

well, that's a locally famous late night pizza spot where plenty of folks make food runs. Jahneil was a very well liked kid with a popular personality, and this is a big blow to a lot of folks around Toledo.
